No, but I've been checking Ethier's UZR throughout the season.
His poor UZR interests me for some reason.
The main thing that’s causing Either to be ranked the worst RF is the ARM rating.
His range is similar from 2008 and 2009.
2008: -6.9
2009: -6.9
Doubtful, Peavy should but I think Webb is done.
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Though rotowire differs
Webb (shoulder) will attempt to rest and avoid shoulder surgery with an eye toward returning to the mound in September, the D-Backs’ official site reports. “[Dr. Keith] Meister said he has seen pitchers with MRIs that look 10 times worse than mine and they are pitching without problems,” Webb said. All three specialists he visited this week told him that the injury did not require surgery, so apparently he does not have a torn labrum — as it was initially feared — after all. Webb will wait four-to-six weeks before throwing again, while going through a strengthening program to stabilize his shoulder and rotator cuff area.
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Think The D'Backs pick up the option?
If not, he’ll be a much better guy to take a chance on than what the Red sox did with Penny and Smoltz.
So as soon as Schmidt is off the payroll you want to sign another guy coming off shoulder surgery?
BTW, I don’t necessarily disagree, just thought it funny to put it that way.
by Michael White on Jul 21, 2009 7:51 PM PDT up reply actions

that Schmidt was one of the best pitchers in the game before we signed him
by bucknellbruin on Jul 21, 2009 7:53 PM PDT up reply actions
Yeah, but we treated like he was healthy even when the Dodgers knew better.
They’re not going to do the same thing with Webb.
True enough
if you go into the negotiations looking to get an “opportunistic buy” and nothing else, you probably can’t get burned. If he wont sign at your price point, it’s easy to walk away. Sort of like with Wolf and Hudson this year

1) HBP, advance to 2B on WP
2) Walk (1st & 2nd)
3) Error…would have been 1st & 3rd, 1 out
4) wild pitch, would have been 2nd base, 1 out, 1 in
5) ground out to pitcher, would have been 2nd base, 2 outs
6) single, OK to assume run scored, so man on 1st, 2 outs, 2 in (total)
7) walk, would be 1st & 2nd, 2 outs
8) bunt groundout, 3 outs

…during his starts throughout the year.
Kuo hasn't pitched yet, thank goodness because the 66ers have given up 9 runs

For those watching on tv
“You can never have too much good stuff” immediately followed by:
“AM/PM, Too much good stuff.”
So does that mean you can never have AM/PM?
So confusing. Perhaps, I should just concentrate on the hot chick trimming the hedges.

Oh right...
Forgot about that.
Just saying, “shoring up pitching” while I would argue is unnecessary anyway, is easier said than done.

lol. And true, it’s funny when us fans get nervous about our team we start handing down these edict’s and proclamations/ we begin to sound delusional ;)

probably not, since that type of mechanism of injury usually causes a contusion, as opposed to a strain or pull… X-rays are pretty reliable in picking-up any fx

Question: has any player occupying the 8 spot all year (or most of it) ever got an MVP?

Fun fact: Kemp only has 16 starts batting 8th this year

They want to see how his arm feels after pitching back to back games
They said one more game on Friday before being evaluated but who knows if they stick to the plan if he is okay tomorrow.

Neither…but if I had to choose, isn’t Rhodes much cheaper?
by Eric Stephen on Jul 21, 2009 9:59 PM PDT up reply actions
Neither one
Rhodes:
2009: $2m
2010: $2m
Weathers:
2009: $3.5m
2010: $3.7m ($400k buyout)
Almost the same cost for each one
by Eric Stephen on Jul 21, 2009 10:01 PM PDT up reply actions
After July 31, there are 65 days left in the 183-day regular season. So their salaries, to the Dodgers, assuming to cash changes hands, are:
Rhodes:
2009: $710,383
2010: $2m
Total: $2,710,383
Weathers:
2009: $1,243,169
2010: $400k buyout
2010: $400k for a rookie to fill that spot
Total: $2,043,169
So Weathers is actually cheaper.
by Eric Stephen on Jul 21, 2009 10:07 PM PDT up reply actions
2009: $12m
2010: $12m
2011: $12m
2012: $12m option ($1m buyout)

From a pitching staff standpoint, tonight couldn’t have gone any better. Just Wolf and Vargas. Lots of rest in those white plastic chairs.
Perfect - and when Chad wins tomorrow 1 - 0, with the off day on Thursday we will be sitting pretty for the weekend

If Vargas gives up just 9 more, the Dodgers could win in the bottom of the inning and have 19 pitchers with a win, a new club record :)
