The softest hitting 1sts baseman in the history of baseball is sure on a roll
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Hey a DP by Martin could score a run as long as it is not from Home to 1st
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Listening to the ABQ game, trying to see if they say anything about Elbert…I’m guessing he’s not hurt.
Options:
1. Traded
2. Brought up to start Friday and they decided to release Schmidt after all or he’s going on the DL
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Bison could have tagged and scored if he was on 3rd :)

That felt like Blake was running in slow motion
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Weak ass fly ball to RF by Kemp that Casey barely scored on because Ludwicks throw was up the line
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
I don't know what happened
Gameday is moving about as fast as Andruw Jones’ metabolism.

This lead don't mean shit with the big boys coming up.
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
I would have let JP hit and pitched Mota.
by Eric Stephen on Jul 29, 2009 8:25 PM PDT up reply actions
A hit scores Loney (probably) there…so you traded a 28% chance at a run with Pierre, for a what 5% chance at a hit and a run with Troncoso?
I’d take my chances with Mota on the mound.
by Eric Stephen on Jul 29, 2009 8:27 PM PDT up reply actions
Its give and take…you lose a little on the mound, you gain some with JP hitting.
by Eric Stephen on Jul 29, 2009 8:26 PM PDT up reply actions
That sounds like a kiss of death. Didn't we agree with him yesterday in the 6th and how did that turn out
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
If we are trading Bell and Elbert for Sherrill
that’s way too much.
Hell yes it's too much
including Elbert in a trade for Sherril would not please me at all.
by Michael White on Jul 29, 2009 8:26 PM PDT up reply actions
elbert for sherill is too much
now we have to also include bell
Like I said, making fun of Sabaen was probably going to come back and bite us in the ass
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
aldersons
stuff is regressing the scouts say.. maybe he is like our josh wall
Clearly
Pierre was also part of the package for Sherrill.

does troncoso get the win and the save?!!?

ed_priceAm told no connection between Elbert scratched and George Sherrill. #Dodgers #Orioles. Intriguing.6 minutes ago from TweetDeck
That would be ridiculously great.
Also, McDonald isn’t warming up. Duh duh duuuuuuuh!
by Eric Stephen on Jul 29, 2009 8:32 PM PDT up reply actions
I really want Halladay now
take any 6 prospects, I don’t care, or take Russ and a few. Now that Philly is out, they’ve got less leverage despite their pathetic public assertions to the contrary.
Outside of Russ, I’m with you. J-Mac plus any 4 or so.
by Eric Stephen on Jul 29, 2009 8:34 PM PDT up reply actions
With Philly out
I think a deal can be done w/o Bills, Kemp, or Kershaw
You'd think so
but Richardi talks like a freaking idiot.
He hasn’t been wowed yet….
by Michael White on Jul 29, 2009 8:35 PM PDT up reply actions
Their counter to Philly wasn’t a “wow” deal either :)
by Eric Stephen on Jul 29, 2009 8:36 PM PDT up reply actions
he can say whatever he wants
but they have to deal him. Unless Texas or Anaheim step up, we’re their only option outside of the AL east
if they do that, they get a greatly reduced package…ask Cleveland about Sabathia.
by Eric Stephen on Jul 29, 2009 8:37 PM PDT up reply actions
Next year they will get fractions of what they'll get this year
look at CC Sabathia last year
by Michael White on Jul 29, 2009 8:38 PM PDT up reply actions
unless we go for halladay
I almost say we take a gamble with what we’ve got…bringing in sherrill really isnt worth trading away the farm for. and bringing him in really doesnt bring us to Philly’s level
O.A.
Ya, I mean, its not that much of a gamble
losing streak or no losing streak, still the best record in baseball
by Michael White on Jul 29, 2009 8:37 PM PDT up reply actions
Agreed, except that is Philly above us? :)
by Eric Stephen on Jul 29, 2009 8:37 PM PDT up reply actions
Sherrill is really good though
I don’t want to overpay, but he would clearly help
ya when i say gamble, its not as though I feel our Odds are 1 in a million
jsut say we ride it out
O.A.
I'm assuming
That was with the arm holding the runner at 3rd

I'm still hoping for V-mart or to a lesser extent, Adam Dunn.
Improve our offense to counter ace or not, don’t give up the farm for volatile relievers or overpriced (albeit for Doc, makes sense), and keep our core.
Ned will never ever ever get Adam Dunn. Not saying he shouldn’t, but he would have signed him in the offseason if he wanted him
by Eric Stephen on Jul 29, 2009 8:40 PM PDT up reply actions
Elbert scratch
could it be Leach being shipped out? Or J Mac?
troncoso has better numbers vs left handed batters then right handed batters
leave him in the game to get the double play
232 vs lefty 260 vs rightys
troncosos splits
Seriously
we needed to inject some power into the lineup
by Michael White on Jul 29, 2009 8:44 PM PDT up reply actions

Left-hander Scott Elbert was a last-minute scratch from his scheduled start for triple-A Albuquerque. He wasn’t pulled for trade purposes, said Colletti, who wouldn’t elaborate further. If Elbert is called up to the majors today, it probably would be to take the place of struggling rookie left-hander Brent Leach.

Elbert last pitched for the Dodgers July 17th.

mainly about the eye jabbing, btu I’d bring elbert up if we did really send down those two

Kensai said it best on his website
the Dodgers are targeting the wrong kind of players for a trade. Hitters are needed here.
The clear spots
are a platoon in right, anyone with a pulse at catcher. We could upgrade at 1b, but it’d have to be a Loney for V Mart type deal.
Martin isn't a problem
Ethier isn’t either, though I suppose that would be okay.
Loney is the clear position to upgrade with a real bat. Martinez would be wonderful.

I also think that ‘wars of attrition’ with teams like the Cards aren’t an entirely bad thing. Wouldn’t you rather face the Cubs ten weeks from now?
