Is the game on Kcal?
If so, are they going to switch off this fire coverage?
Ah okay thanks!
Have to move rooms. No cable in here.
Strange. It's blocked on ESPN for me.
FSN it is.
I guess it's just the first time I've seen it happen this year.
I know I’ve been able to watch it on both ESPN and FSN sometimes in the past but oh well.
Crap.
That fire is in the Sepulveda Pass. That will screw up the 405 traffic and, therefore, my commute home.
Hmmm, yeah.
Right now the backup is 90 to Getty Center, which is pretty normal, albeit at slower speeds.
Thanks to the carpool lanes, I can actually make ok time from El Segundo via the 105/110 through downtown, believe it or not, although I’ve only done that once. PCH to Topanga will be screwed, I’m sure.
They took away his stupid trivia question at the Dodger game.
You know the one where they ask who was the greatest LHP in Dodger History and his first name is Sandy
Anyone who takes on Well's contract
should not be adding any players to the pot. It might be the worse contract in baseball at this point. I’m a little surprised that Toronto isn’t tying Wells contract to Halladay. The return wouldn’t be as great but it would free up some major assets for this winter.
From DT
Steiner reports that Belisario’s MRI showed no structural damage so we will now see if this is just a brief rest for Ronald.

Was Furcal just throwing sunflower seeds at o dogs head?

I didn't notice
but I went back and watched again and yes he was. haha Nice catch!
The Dodger community is shocked that Russ Martin, the soon to be BlueJay, made an out with runners on base
definitely
well, 9 times out of 10 at least

He has a .412 OBP before today!
But since the start of the Yankee series, where he got zero hits, he is 5-43, .116 / .191 / .209 / .401.
THAT is a slump.
That Peter Pasquarellli guy
Has a serious hard on for the Dodgers, especially Matt Kemp.
I downloaded it, and then chose not to listen to it.
Keith Law did have a podcast today in the fantasy baseball one. I’d listen to that one.
Who'd USC get?
Considering what pub Kevin O’Neill keeps on getting, you’d think USC basketball is doomed.
Good luck getting him to sign
I have a feeling O’Neill wont be at USC by 2011

Longshot Loretta with the base knock to drive in Hudson who got on when he forced Furcal who had walked. Whew
R. Furcal walked
- O. Hudson grounded into fielder’s choice, R. Furcal out at second
- M. Ramirez flied out to deep center
- C. Blake walked, O. Hudson to second
- M. Loretta singled to center, O. Hudson scored, C. Blake to third
- R. Martin fouled out to first
Wow, the Mets defense is bad.
To allow that Kemp single without a move to see if they could reach it?
Just curious
What lineup do people think would score the most runs (of the 8 playing today)?
vr, Xei
Furcal
Hudson
Manny
Ethier
Kemp
Blake
Martin
Loretta
Kuroda

Yes, but it really boils down to Torre not wanting to put too much pressure on his youngest starting position player, believing that playing CF every day already provides enough pressure.
If Kemp hits like this all season, he will be hitter higher eventually. Like in 2010. After all, in 2010, something wonderful happens.
i'm a fan of pitchers that see 4 pitches then lay down a successful sacrifice

According to ESPN
Manny Ramirez probably doing steroids is the most important and worst story mankind has ever seen.
An Interesting strategy
we’ll see if it pays off
I would never question your math
without triple-checking mine first. And I’m not spending that amount of time on it now!
I'd have to look this up, but
Blake doesn’t make many errors, but when he does, it does seem to be at some pretty inopportune moments.
Wasn’t the scouting report when they signed Kuroda that he really knows how to “bear down” in these kinds of situations?
45.3 TB Pace
assuming Mets don’t bat in 9th inning. Once again, that’s if my math is correct.
vr, Xei
Looks like Kuroda will bat
Maybe he will bunt if Kemp gets on, then get pinch hit for if Kemp gets out?
vr, Xei
didn't
there used to be an old timers game during the All Star Break way back when?

88 pitches for Perez in his first start back, and he's leading off
I wonder if they have a pitch count limit on him.
The guys were saying how Wolf is changing his number back to 43 (he couldn’t get it before because random guys were being assigned the number and the number is finally free so he decided he’s going to change it) and Kershaw asked him “Why is it because you want to be 4-3” (Wolf’s record right now is 3-3). So Wolf goes "Yeah, Then after, for my next start I’m going to change it to 53 and so on
Then I guess Kershaw paused and he asked “You don’t want a locker next to me?” because when the guys are on the road their lockers are assigned through numerical order.
:)
read somewhere
that Griffey Jr. wore just one white batting glove while at the plate today. Pretty clever tribute.
Thumbs up for the game on TV....
Thumbs down for Rick Sutcliffe announcing. The game only exists to give him subjects on which to go off-topic for several pitches at a time.
Just started up Gameday.
Someone wanna give me a short explanation of how they’ve scored 4 runs off Hiro?

Heart of the lineup coming up.
Time to showcase our ex-steroids-using player!

O Dog back to scuffling
Really hope he sits out the all star game
Our 2nd best hitter bats 8th
so who knows what Joe is thinking
and they should move up Kemp

Do you think batting Kemp higher up
could’ve secured him a spot at the All-Star game?
I think with those extra bats Kemp could’ve gotten himself picked as a reserve.
"The right to swing my fist ends where the other man's nose begins." -Oliver W. Holmes
What if he went 0-for all those extra ABs?
He may still be an injury replacement for Beltran or Ibanez.
What makes you think he'd go 0-for in all those ABs?
"The right to swing my fist ends where the other man's nose begins." -Oliver W. Holmes
I think thatd be really interesting to see matty
bat in front of manny..base stealing speed and power, and he’d probably see better pitches…I’d also like to see dewitt maybe get a start or two at 2nd before the all star break
O.A.
I think thats were he should be hitting

Gameday shows a lot of balls and strikes not being called for balls and strikes.
Is it really that bad?

We may be another week away from a playing time controversy
Not saying I’d agree with it, but it may be coming
Pierre for Dre?

Ethier
I hope at some point he decides that hitting a fly ball in every at-bat is not the answer. Guess the 14 double plays already spooked him. 30 HR’s and a .220 average instead of 20 HR’s and a .300 is not a good trade.
It's sure great having an all star hitting 8th
behind 4 guys under .260
Not gonna get it done
we need baserunners, and K Rod will be in next
The ESPN announcers keep saying that the reason Orlando is slumping is because of his wrist, and it might hurt. Then they brought up him tightening his gloves after every swing, and not swinging with any confidence. Now, they brought up the fact that one of the players when asked about Odog slumping brought up his whole wrist injury thing, but the announcer was all "I hate having to say “a player” told me that, but he said not to bring up his name"
something along those lines
He just got two days off over the weekend.
"The right to swing my fist ends where the other man's nose begins." -Oliver W. Holmes
He hasn't pitched since last Sat. So he's due work.
But it should have been in the 5th when it was higher leveraged.
Torre is using a lot of relievers today.. is this the 3rd reliever? 4th? Especially in a losing effort. bleh
Could have held the Mets to two runs
If Castillo doesn’t get lucky on the chopper, and if Blake doesn’t make the error and turns two.
And the same Ethier who has been terrible lately.
Walk-off hits are great, but so is consistent production. One single in 18 days. 8 for his last 53. The list can go on and on. He is not a good hitter right now, plain and simple.
Saying he is not a major league hitter was a bit reactionary (and patently false), but he has been pretty bad for a long stretch outside of a couple of clutch hits and a fair number of home runs.
He is slumping
But l don’t believe lineups should be dictated by hot hands and slumps – you can’t predict when those begin and end. Matt Kemp has been pretty consistent and this hitting 8th stuff is getting a little old. I think Joe is now too fascinated with wrapping his speed around to the top of the order.
Shit, when you only give up one run with the bases loaded and one out you did your job
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
It should have been Troncoso.
I don’t care if it was the 5th. That situation was tailor made for him.
Troncoso walked Luis Castillo in the inning he did pitch
He could just as easily have walked in a run in the fifth. The fifth, IMO, is still kinda early for leverage and smoke jumpers.
Troncoso would have pitched differently with men on bases then he did in the 8th.
You can’t just say that Troncoso would have just walked somebody in the 5th.
We will never know, no point to focus on it.
Ethier grounded into the double play.
Casey made that error.
That one ball hit took an unlucky bounce.
Had Loretta been called safe at first we potentially could have got a run in.
All the things COULD HAVE happened but they didn’t. Sometimes it’s just not your night. You win some, you lose some. You can’t win em’ all
I think it's fair to pin this stuff on Torre
His ridiculous and pathetic lineup is really starting to cost us. Loretta in the 5 hole and Kemp in the 8th slot is the kind of shit only Tony La Russa could get away with. It’s a joke.
I'll agree that Kemp batting eight is something to complain about
but complaining about Wade and Ethier is simply whining. Andre has come thru plenty of times in big situations and Wade did his job. So did Mota again, the same guy most of you wanted released in April.
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
So if Cora doesn't pin Blake to the mat
Would Blake and Martin both have advanced, getting LA out the GIDP situation?
Then maybe the significantly slower Blake
wouldn’t have tried to advance anyway. A out on the basepaths would be deadly there.
You want something to complain about
Andruw Jones hit his 12th home run tonight. Chew on that tonight.
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Something real to whine about instead making up stuff to whine about like Wade's performance.
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
I don't think it's fair to complain about Wade's performance.
He did his job. Only gave up 1 run with bases loaded, 1 out. That’s performing
I question whether he should be on the team though.
Kuroda kind of sucked considering the lineup he faced. If anyone wears the goat horns it is him. Then Hudson, then Ethier. But it is just one game. Ethier’s streaks are frustrating when he’s off but other worldly when he’s on. I’ll prefer a more consistent approach but how many Manny’s are there?
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Make that 13 for Andruw - two so far tonight
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Ogden is bitchslapping their opponents 19-1
Songco is continuing his power showcase tonight with 3 more hits.
