Around the Minors - July 8th, 2009
While the first inning web site is down we will muddle through with our own manual version. Othen then the rookie Arizona team the affiliates plastered their opponents to the tune of 56 to 17.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Isotopes win a slugfest 11 - 7, with Jaime Hoffman driving in six runs, and Tony Abreu chipping in three hits and two doubles. Josh Lindblom had more trouble in his 2nd AAA start then his first as he was rocked for 8 hits in 3 2/3 innings. He did however go 2 for 2 and is now hitting .750 in AAA but his bat is not what we care about.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lucas May led the Lookouts to an 11 - 5 victory with five runs batted in. May who just returned from the DL is picking right up from his hot May. Lambo only had one hit but has found the hot weather of July to his liking with an OPS north of 1.000. Russ Mitchell hit his 3rd home run in July in limited plate appearances. Victor Garate saved the game with two innings of shutout ball.

The Loons plastered their opponents 12 - 3 behind Russell, Pedroza, Gordon, and Silverio. Russell hit his league leading 22nd home run and drove in four runs, Pedroza hit his 11th and drove in four runs, Gordon scored three times, and Silverio collected three hits. Justin Miller made his 2nd excellent start in July going seven innings and only allowing two runs while posting seven punchouts.

Rookie League - Odgen
Doing their affiliates one better they shellacked Great Falls 19 - 2. Ruggiano, Yount, Sands, and Wise all hit home runs. Sands drove in five runs and is just dominating this league. Wise who just signed several days ago is making a huge impression with six hits in his first 14 at bats. He drove in four runs today. Songco did not him a home run but did collect three hits and is teaming up with Sands as they become a potent 1-2 punch for Odgen. Ruggiano got on base six times with three hits and three walks, scored five times, and drove in four runs. Quite a day.

Rookie League - Arizona
They on the other hand took a drubbing 13 - 0, ruining what otherwise would have been a perfect day for the affiliates.
