Chad Billingsley Scratched From Wednesday Start
Chad Billingsley, nursing a sore left hamstring, has been scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday in San Francisco. Billingsley threw a bullpen session under the watchful eyes of manager Joe Torre and pitching coach Rick Honeycutt today at AT&T Park, after which it was determined Billingsley would be skipped for at least one start.
Per Ken Gurnick of MLB.com, "Torre said no decision had been made on whether Billingsley would be disabled or who will start Wednesday."
Here's a quick look at some possible candidates to make Wednesday's start, with their last appearance:
- James McDonald: pitched two perfect innings Friday
- Jeff Weaver: pitched three perfect innings Sunday
- Scott Elbert: optioned to Albuquerque after allowing two runs (plus two inherited runs) in one inning Friday
Torre indicated on the pregame show with Charley Steiner that he doesn't know who will start Wednesday, and that with Thursday's off day many pitchers could be used in short stints.

Orel: (commenting on marcus thames’ game tying double) He’s in this lineup because he’s hot AND he’s a hooker!… and I say that meaning he can hook the ball off the monster.
