Not there tonight, but

I’m surrounded by Giants fans family.
A win would be nice so as to not have to worry about tomorrow too much.

elbert has pitched 3 innings today so far with only 1 K with 1 hit and 0 walks

And every single out recorded has been a groundball out.. lol 8 to 0 groundball to flyout ratio…..thats pretty good for a flyball pitcher

Btw

tony abreu with another home run tonight…

he should be playing tonight!! In san francisco…… not new mexico!!

Elbert was sent out on the 8th

I know there’s a ten-day rule about when he can be recalled again. Can he be recalled for the next needed 5th starter slot, which is next Tuesday the 18th?

by David Young on Aug 11, 2009 7:00 PM PDT up reply actions

Assuming the 8th counts as the first day

I suppose there would be no problem with that.

by David Young on Aug 11, 2009 7:02 PM PDT up reply actions

Veteran leadership?

The veteran of veterans, Jamie Moyer, is phussin’ in Philly over being removed from the rotation in favor of Pedro Martinez.

He probably has every right to be annoyed, his 5 and 1/2 ERA notwithstanding – probably inflated from a bad start to the season – but he probably shouldn’t be popping off to the press and making a scene. OTOH, at least he’s not grumbling anonymously behind the scenes.

by David Young on Aug 11, 2009 7:10 PM PDT reply actions

He’s been pretty consistently bad the whole season.

10 starts he’s given up 3 runs or less
5 starts he’s given up 4 runs
and 7 starts he’s given up 5 or more

So I guess we could say he’s been decent a little less than 50% of the time?

Given the Phillies offense

I’d say that’s 15 out of 22 reasonable starts for a 4th/5th starter.

by David Young on Aug 11, 2009 7:19 PM PDT up reply actions

Yup, that's about right

every one of those pitches Ethier looks like he should have smoked

they would have thought twice though

plus matt kemp making people pay for walking people intentionally to get to him….. he gets pissed off and feels disrespected

Reminding me of that Marquis CG against the Dodgers earlier in the year with like, 89 total pitches.
This would be nice on the bullpen.

Maybe if it’s tie game, 9th inning and the same situation you can try bunting.

Not in the top of the 3rd.

lol here's a post over at McCovey Chronicles

“I love how Dodgers fans have to come here

because all of the Dodgers blogs are terrible and nobody ever comments on anything.

Because L.A. is a city of fairweather fans who come in the 3rd and leave in the 7th even in Giants games, and they cheer a cheater who was caught after screaming "steroids" at Bonds. (funniest part — he never tested positive for anything Hank Aaron didn’t take, and the alleged "steroids" he took were not classified as such by the FDA at the time he took them, according to Yahoo Sports.)

Most Dodgers "fans" are hypocrites or bandwagon flakes. Only a few exceptions exist, and the world feels sorry for their horribly misguided and consequently pitiful lives."

by Bluetrek on Aug 11, 2009 9:41 PM PDT reply actions

I posted:

What’s that? I’m sorry. The sound of Steve Finley’s walk-off grand slam is still ringing in my ears.

Now they’re giving me flack for being a troll. I do the same thing to people who call me a bandwagoner with the Lakers. I don’t like it.

why rub it in their faces. We can enjoy a 9 – 1 thrashing without dumping on another teams blog. I’d be very pissed if a Giant fan came here and did that.
