Kirk Gibson is not our guy

Just watched the "Gibson Homerun" Beyond the Glory episode. So I can't believe I would write that title, but how can Tommy send up a banged up Gibson to face the best closer ever. I really think the Dave Anderson was the better call in that situation. Gibby just got lucky on a hanging slider. 1988 was a magical Dodger year, Orel, Gibson, Mickey Hatcher, Scioscia a great bunch of working man players. Oh the memories. Here is hoping that the 2009 edition of the Boys in Blue can bring back a little of that excitement, and oh yea the WS title that is now long overdue.

- He coaches for the Diamondbacks, not the team with which he achieved baseball immortality.

There's one thing missing, Mammoth...

Where’s the Clippers joke?

I am not a clipper h8tr

I am and always have been a Laker fan (I am old enough to claim I was at the finals in 1970 and saw the jerry West shot, I was not there though and watched it on TV)

I do think that the Clippers are bound for long term mediocrity as long as present ownership is in place.

wasn't a hanger

it was a good pitch, thrown for a strike on the outside corner at the knees. Watch the video.

Gibson knew it was coming and sat on it. Otherwise he could never have pulled that pitch. You could argue that Eck should have thrown a fast ball. But the slider was not a hanger.

To be clear – all of these posts should be posted dripping with sarcasm. So much sarcasm that a sarcasm meter would melt under the relenting prose. However underneath the thick level of sarcasm should be some truth. A tricky endeavor indeed. JJ24 failed.
