Early crisis averted here in the Midwest

Initially had a meeting scheduled at the unfortunate interval of 6-830 pm CT – which led to me bringing a laptop with plans of streaming the first hour of the game on MLB.tv rather than paying attention…but it managed to go just an hour (most of which was spent browsing TBLA’s archives – thanks to Eric, Phil and many posters who kept me captivated for said hour).

Ready to catch the start of what should be a great series uninhibited. Kershaw on the mound. Life is good.

he needs to strike em out when he gets ahead in da count

Hammel really throwing

2 pitches. Key is to layoff that tight curve/slider. He hasn’t been locating that fastball well yet. Conversely, so long as Clayton locates his fastball, he is in good shape.

by oshea2002 on Aug 25, 2009 6:26 PM PDT up reply actions

All season

he has been like that. He no lower body drive. Don’t know if it is an injury or a mechanical thing, but he cannot generate any power and consequently swings at bad pitches.

by BlueBulldog on Aug 25, 2009 6:28 PM PDT up reply actions

Loney just

looks completely out of sync at the plate. He is getting absolutely no drive with his legs.

All three outs came on first pitch or 0-1 counts.

Torre basically said as much the other day

You can tell he thinks this is a lost year for James and he won’t get right till the offseason. We simply have no other options at this point (eyechart maybe?)

I noticed he is starting his feet very early.

Look at that toe tap he does at the beginning. Its so early, it is like he is on his front foot before the pitch is thrown.

by BlueBulldog on Aug 25, 2009 6:31 PM PDT up reply actions

yeahhhhhhhh

ive been saying for a long time…. his toe tap is taking away all the power….. he is not generating any force with his lower body… only with his arms
