Great links/finds
Thanks for these. I especially liked the Gordon story. I’m really excited to see him move up the ranks over the next year to see what he can do.
(By the way, totally don’t mean to nitpick or pick on you, as I see this all the time, it’s just a pet peeve of mine, but it’s actually “If you’re into…” But you knew that! ;-) Sorry, carry on. /remove anal retentive editor hat)
Don't ever assume
I know anything related to grammar.
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Gordon is a special project for more reasons than just respect for his elders. He leads the Midwest League in stolen bases and has plenty of range at shortstop.
“He’s not a natural shortstop, but he can be outstanding,” Wills said. "He’s got all the tools to be great … speed, arm. But he’s a natural center fielder, not a shortstop. He just has to keep working, keep taking ground balls.
“I wasn’t a natural shortstop either. I was a pitcher in high school. The Dodgers took one look at how short I was and said, ‘second base.’ And that’s where I went.”
Prediction: They’ll keep Dee Gordon at SS if they’re looking to trade him. They’ll move him to CF if the Dodgers think he’s a keeper.
Shouldn't it work the other way around
The Dodgers appear set at CF with a certain 24 year old Bison. Talent in the middle infield (while deeper) lacks superstar type talent (like Kemp is in the outfield) so it would make more sense to keep him there….

I agree, so why move him to CF if you don't want to keep him?

Because eventually his play at SS will merit him moving off of SS.
Maybe I’m wrong, but if his bat is ahead of his fielding, the Dodgers might accelerate him with a position off of SS.
With Kemp already situated in CF (hands-down his best position)...
I think the Dodgers can afford to take their time with Gordon at SS for now. Who knows, maybe he’ll improve enough on defense to the point where the club might even consider moving Ivan DeJesus Jr. off that spot and make HIM the future 2B, especially after what happened to him in ST this year. And besides, isn’t Furcal gonna be around for a couple more years? Why rush the kid for that matter? Let him continue to grow.
