Trayvon Robinson walking up the ladder - Dodger Prospect Top Performances and Minor League Box Scores - Aug 5th, 2009
Trayvon Robinson had a triple and homerun as he continues to scorch the ball in August. Check out the progressive walk rate for Mr. Robinson - by month - 5%, 6, 11%, 12% and so far in limited at bats in August, 17%. The K rate is worrisome with 111 k's but keep in mind he has already accumulated 494 plate appearances (22%). Speedy guys who walk and can hit with some semblence of power while playing CF.... Someone to keep an eye on.
2009 3rd round pick Brett Wallach was whomped in his start last night giving up seven runs in one inning of work.
Alberto Bastardo with a complete game, eight strikeout performance for AA
Josh Lindblom with four k's in two innings of relief work at AAA.
I'm still mystified with the Dodgers belief they needed more relief pitching. They don't even have room for Corey Wade while they still have Belisario on his way back with Lindblom in AAA.
Kenley Jansens conversion is not going well, if the move is permanent then I expect he will be working out in Arizona after the season.
Since Vinny Rottino was received in the Vargas deal lthe catcher has played C, RF, and 3rd base.
Justin Miller's debut in the Cal League went about as well as Withrow's debut in AA. That is to say it did not go well.

Good news.
Of the young pitchers Dodgers currently have relieving that could potentially become starters at the ML level, I feel Lindblom to be the most logical choice. He’s clearly got the stuff and command to make it work for him. Just needs to get his body in better condition (better shape actually, lol) for the role, but that can wait for next season. Scouts actually rate his overall stuff and pitchability as being close to, if not on par with the likes of Haren if you can believe that. BB/K ratios he’s posted in the minors certainly don’t lie in that regard…
Your quick to the kill someone's dream
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
What purpose does that serve?
Don’t you need some sort of minor league depth even if these guys don’t figure to contribute at the big league level? You need somebody catching Lindblom.

We already had minor leauge depth at Double-A.
Some 33 year old guy named Rose or something.
Rottino is just roster filler, better served by a guy that can actually develop into an useful player.
Sad, but true.
But then again, that’s life in the pros…
I just don't see the point either
Ellis and the backup were already there, AA isn’t really for 5th string organizational depth
But hey, maybe he’s a great teacher for young pitchers or something, who knows.

Hey Phil
Were you the one who was high on Robinson? You may have been right. Even i’m forced to say his numbers are promising despite lacking impressive tools. :o
Arent all numbers in High A ball Cal League
Inflated BIG time?
Yes
But he’s never shown this type of eye. I don’t really care about the rest.
My problem with him was that he was fast, but what use is it if he can’t control the strike zone.

Kensai, do you have audio of your interview on DodgerTalk? I can’t pick up KABC here in the high desert and the show is always blacked out online even when the Dodger games are over. And KABC isn’t known for having their shit together online.
How did it go?

Hmm?
I wasn’t on DodgerTalk yet. He said sometime this month though.
