2010 Free Agent Starting Pitchers
Jayson Stark ranks the 2010 free agent pitchers. Wolf is listed at #2 which probably means he will get an offer which (if Stark's rankings are in-line with the market) will likely pull him away from the Ravine. The intriguing pitcher for me is Rich Harden listed at #5. Nobody questions his stuff, just his durability. If the Dodgers can negotiate a favorable deal (like they did with Hudson) which limited the years and dollars, I think he would be an intriguing pickup.

Interesting article
Doug Davis
When we brought his name up to another [GM], the answer was: “made for the NL West.”
What exactly is that supposed to mean?
Hey
isn’t B Webb potentially on that list? Why would the DBacks pick up his option? I say we fire the Doctors that blessed off on Jason Schmidt, get a better crew to evaluate B Webb and give him a 5 year, $50m majorly incentive laden deal worth $80 if he hits 200 IP every year.
Or Ben Sheets?
or is he in such bad shape he’s in the Jason Schmidt category?

Sorry. B Webb is on that list as an x-factor.
I say even if the DBacks don’t pick up his option we look long and hard at him. He’s not even 30 yet and when healthy he’s a phenomenal pitcher.

Wow. All this excitement over potential free agents next year. So it's me, mwhite and El Lay Dave are the only ones who care. Spiffy.
signing A-Type free agents year after year is a dangerous, addictive habit
we have tons of young pitchers that can potentially blossom/return to form/continue shining, as well as another year of Hiroki Kuroda. Besides, let’s wait and see how 2009 turns out before worrying about 2010!
First its never too early to strategize & plan ahead.
Second if a type A free agent is right why not sign him? I doubt Sheets or Webb would qualify for type
A though. Could you freaking imagine a starting five of Bills Kuroda Kershaw Wolf & a healthy Sheets or Webb?
Oh YEAH!!!

Nice. No way he qualifies for Type A, right? I mean he pitched four innings this year. And if AZ is intent on him taking less than $8.5M, how tough would it be to throw $10M/yr for 3-5 years and get his services? I really can’t see anyone offering him much more.
