Pedroza leads Loons into 2nd round play
While the AAA Isotopes were getting swept by the Redbirds the Loons enjoyed some late inning heroics by Jamie Pedroza to advance to the 2nd round. The Loons started off the game with the first ever lead off inside the park home run by Dee Gordon, and for six innings it looked like MVP Gordon would be the hero. However in the 7th his fielding error allowed the tying run to score and the game remained knotted at two until Pedroza hit a one out home run in the 10th to give the Loons a 3 - 2 lead. Saint Clair finished up his longest stint of the year by closing out the game in the 10th but it wasn't easy. He had two and one out but was able get a strike out and pop out to end the game and advance to Loons into the 2nd round.
Ethan Martin started the game and pitched 4 2/3 innings of solid baseball. This was only notable because in this last seven appearances he was not allowed to pitch more then three innings and had not pitched more then three innings since July 27th. Martin was followed by Geison Aguasviva and Nathan Eovaldi who did their jobs. Then Saint Clair was asked to do more then he's done all year and he was upto the task with three scoreless innings to garner the extra inning victory.
The Isotopes bats were silent during the three game series sweep by the Redbirds. Considering that Abreu/Paul/Hu/DeWitt are all supposed to have major league bats this swan song was disturbing.
Odgen now starts their playoffs tomorrow with Galvez/Ruggiano/Webster trying to win a Pioneer League Championship.

i meant call him up
to the big club, so he can compete for the 2nd base job next season here and not be the 2nd baseman on Az

But that’s why they cannot call him up. He is definitely one of the players on the list as a PTBNL in the Garland trade. By rule, he cannot play in the same league he is being traded to in between the time of the trade and the official naming of the PTBNL. Nobody on the list can be called up.

Az does not want him
because they failed to do their homework and think he will be too expensive in 2011, can’t he be pulled from that list, or can AZ just let it lay out there tying up anyone on the list until they make their mind up

There could be a lot of different things going on here
Say there were 3 players on the PTBNL list. The players were Wade, Dewitt and Abreu. Say they initially wanted Abreu, but got spooked and decided they wanted Dewitt. Perhaps Dewitt couldn’t clear waivers during the year, so in that case the trade won’t be conducted until after the season. If something like that happened, Wade, Abreu and DeWitt would be ineligible to play during the remainder of the season….

Yeah, pretty much anyone on the list of players given to AZ can’t play in the majors. There’s a decent chance DeWitt and Wade might be on the list as well, so if they don’t get called up that’s safe to assume as well.

Pedroza may never have a bigger hit in his professional career. When you are a borderline major league prospect these kinds of games must have special meaning since in the end that may be the highlight of his career.
Nice to see Saint Clair going three strong innings for the win.
Very disappointed in the offense displayed by the Isotopes. Expected some fireworks from them.
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
If the PTBNL is now DeWitt in the Garland trade, that means we have traded all of our 3rd base depth inside of 15 months.
Blake DeWitt, Andy LaRoche, Joshua Bell, and Carlos Santana.
Yeesh.
Gosh, I completely missed the “If” at the beginning of your post.
My bad.

Given they have Reynolds
I doubt DeWitt is headed for Arizona. If Lindblom is a relief pitcher going forward would you rather deal Lindblom or Abreu because Arizona could really use Lindblom.

What the hell?
Lindblom isn’t going anywhere. Lindblom for Garland is quite possibly worse than Santana for Blake.
