USA 11 NETHERLANDS ANTILLES 1: Justin Smoak hit two home runs and had five RBI and Team USA got another solid pitching performance, this one from Kasey Kiker and Lucas Harrell, who combined on a two hitter to rout the Netherlands Antilles. The Netherlands Antilles actually had a 1-0 second inning lead before Lucas May tied the score with his first home run of the World Cup leading off the third against starter Johannes Gregorius. Jon Weber’s solo homer, one of his three hits on the day, gave USA the lead for good (2-1) in the fifth, and Smoak’s first homer of the game followed later in the inning. The US broke the game open with a six run seventh, with Smoak’s three run shot providing most of the damage. With the win the US improved to 4-1 in World Cup play.
