Kemp just needs 3 more RBIs

to reach 100 but he’ll have to keep hitting to maintain that .300+ average.

by bhsportsguy on Sep 23, 2009 3:48 PM PDT reply actions

Should be easier

facing the pitching of the Nationals/Pirates/Rockies. The Rockie rotation appears winded. To bad we can’t play the wild card in the first round, would not be surprised to see them swept.

by meercatjohn on Sep 23, 2009 3:49 PM PDT up reply actions

At the start of today's play, those 97 RBIs have Kemp tied for 10th in the NL, with Ryan Zimmerman

This despite 70 starts batting 7th or lower in the batting order.

I know RBI is an old-fashioned counting stat, but is there any question about the quality of the players in the NL top-10?

1. Pujols (STL) 129
Fielder (MIL) 129
3. Howard (PHI) 126
4. Lee (CHC) 109
5. Dunn (WSN) 103
Braun (MIL) 103
7. Ethier (LAD) 102
Ramirez (FLA) 102
9. Reynolds (ARI) 100
10. Kemp (LAD) 97
Zimmerman (WSN) 97

Kemp also has 94 runs scored, so he has an chance at being a 100-100 man there too.

by David Young on Sep 23, 2009 4:03 PM PDT up reply actions

94 runs is ninth in the NL.

by David Young on Sep 23, 2009 4:04 PM PDT up reply actions

yes

and he started so many games batting 7th and 8th, imagine the runs batting 2-5 the whole year… WOW

by matthewmafa on Sep 23, 2009 4:04 PM PDT up reply actions

He would be the 10th 100/100 man in LA Dodger history (well, 10th season)

by Eric Stephen on Sep 23, 2009 4:04 PM PDT up reply actions

The list of Dodger all-time 100-100 season is 27 different season, and quite impressive:

During tonight’s game on Prime Ticket, there will be live interviews with Kershaw, Loretta, and Lasorda.

by Eric Stephen on Sep 23, 2009 4:02 PM PDT reply actions

During the game? That’s very un-Dodger like. That moved is usually reserved for ESPN’s sunday night baseball and monday night football….

by Michael White on Sep 23, 2009 4:03 PM PDT up reply actions

Who will manage the team on Oct 4?

I sure hope it’s not Loretta because of his “veteran presence”

by silverwidow on Sep 23, 2009 4:03 PM PDT up reply actions

It will be Loretta or Thome...

but since Loretta has been with the team all year it will be him.

I expect Wolf to be the pitching coach.

by Michael White on Sep 23, 2009 4:04 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah, I think it will be Loretta or Ausmus.

by Eric Stephen on Sep 23, 2009 4:05 PM PDT up reply actions

It's a Joe Torre tradition

to have his veteran players coach the last game of the year.

Last year it was Sweeney and Sturtze.

by Michael White on Sep 23, 2009 4:06 PM PDT up reply actions

ohh

october 4th is the last game of the season…

if the dodgers dont clinch by then, which is almost impossible, would he still do it?

by David Young on Sep 23, 2009 4:05 PM PDT up reply actions

His last game was nice

and he’s got good stuff but he can’t go more then five innings and ain’t nobody in the bullpen we can’t go Garate on.

by meercatjohn on Sep 23, 2009 4:08 PM PDT up reply actions

He throws just over 17 pitches per inning

by Eric Stephen on Sep 23, 2009 4:12 PM PDT up reply actions

5 3 4 2 5

in his last five starts. Not quite fair since he has just made two starts since he was recalled.

by meercatjohn on Sep 23, 2009 4:15 PM PDT up reply actions

True, but his FIP is only 3.80 (SSS)

which is lower than Billingsley’s ERA of 4.05 and in line with Billingsley’s FIP of 3.72

I agree

I think that’s why Chad’s “average fastball velocity” is a bit lower than it really is per Fangraphs. Cutters are being marked as 4 seamers.

I really don’t care if they throw left or right at this point, I just want quality pitching.

I think so too in many cases.

This case I feel is more about our team instead of their team.

I don’t think were going to sweep the Cards and I don’t think they will sweep us, AND I think were going to use 4 starters this playoffs.

and if we matchup with the Cards, we can somewhat keep them off balance with L Wolf, R Kuroda, L Kershaw, R (Bills, Padilla or Garland)
