Kemp just needs 3 more RBIs
to reach 100 but he’ll have to keep hitting to maintain that .300+ average.
Should be easier
facing the pitching of the Nationals/Pirates/Rockies. The Rockie rotation appears winded. To bad we can’t play the wild card in the first round, would not be surprised to see them swept.
At the start of today's play, those 97 RBIs have Kemp tied for 10th in the NL, with Ryan Zimmerman
This despite 70 starts batting 7th or lower in the batting order.
I know RBI is an old-fashioned counting stat, but is there any question about the quality of the players in the NL top-10?
1. Pujols (STL) 129
Fielder (MIL) 129
3. Howard (PHI) 126
4. Lee (CHC) 109
5. Dunn (WSN) 103
Braun (MIL) 103
7. Ethier (LAD) 102
Ramirez (FLA) 102
9. Reynolds (ARI) 100
10. Kemp (LAD) 97
Zimmerman (WSN) 97
Kemp also has 94 runs scored, so he has an chance at being a 100-100 man there too.
yes
and he started so many games batting 7th and 8th, imagine the runs batting 2-5 the whole year… WOW
kemp is a stats machine
he is top 5 in fantasy next year
Imagine how valuable he would be if you had to have a "position specific" CF
and you couldn’t just play 3 LF’s on your fantasy team…

my current team has Upton(RF) and Kemp(CF).

He would be the 10th 100/100 man in LA Dodger history (well, 10th season)

The list of Dodger all-time 100-100 season is 27 different season, and quite impressive:

During tonight’s game on Prime Ticket, there will be live interviews with Kershaw, Loretta, and Lasorda.
During the game? That’s very un-Dodger like. That moved is usually reserved for ESPN’s sunday night baseball and monday night football….

It will be Loretta or Thome...
but since Loretta has been with the team all year it will be him.

nats starting pitcher Ross Detwiler is 0-6 with a 5.80 ERA
"That is not how you play the game!!!" -Jack in the Box
He was also the 6th overall pick in the 2007 draft. Just the sort of guy that can pop up with a nice game at any time.
His last game was nice
and he’s got good stuff but he can’t go more then five innings and ain’t nobody in the bullpen we can’t go Garate on.
He throws just over 17 pitches per inning
by Eric Stephen on Sep 23, 2009 4:12 PM PDT up reply actions
5 3 4 2 5
in his last five starts. Not quite fair since he has just made two starts since he was recalled.
True, but his FIP is only 3.80 (SSS)
which is lower than Billingsley’s ERA of 4.05 and in line with Billingsley’s FIP of 3.72

And what's the record when Raffy scores in the first
Well the Dodgers are something like .700 when they do that.
When we score a run
in the first, on the road, against the Nationals, with a LHP pitching, we are undefeated.

But we know Chad can go more than 3-4 innings. The Yankees don’t know that with Joba.
by Michael White on Sep 23, 2009 4:27 PM PDT up reply actions
I think gameday doesn’t really know which pitches are 4-seamers and which are cutters, though it tries to distinguish one from the other.
I agree
I think that’s why Chad’s “average fastball velocity” is a bit lower than it really is per Fangraphs. Cutters are being marked as 4 seamers.

I can't get too excited about Chad yet
last time he pitched an East Coast game, he had retired everyone in like 8 pitches through 2. By the time I got to the car Monday was railing on Chad for refusing to change his jersey during games….
Didn't you just a 2nd ago
tell us he has to get through the first order before we can worry about the 2nd order?
Yes I did.
And you’ve stumped me, I have no answer for my sudden change in opinion.
I just wanted to get in my dig about Monday’s obsession with the number of jersey’s Chad wears in games.

Just saying
i’ve heard of guys hitting 100 MPH before but I’ve never seen a starting pitcher do it in the major leagues. So until he does it, call me skeptical.
Velocity is not the end all for a pitcher
He will have to be able to command it so its likely he will throw it a little slower.
You pitch only once a week in college.
5 man rotation, pitching every 5 days, etc. Pitchers velocities will drop after working more.
And yes
quite a few guys never hit the speeds they were measured at before they become professional. Josh Wall comes to mind.

Not only that, but Arod WANTED to be a Dodger. We could have had the 5 tool Arod without all the steroid and Madonna controversy Arod.
And if we hadn't traded Pedro
It would have been like the 2000 Mariners, with Arod, Griffey, and RJ…but they won 116 games the year after they lost all 3….so idk.

If Chad keeps this up, people will be going from leaving Chad out of the playoff rotation to having him start Game #1 again.
vr, Xei
He should be the #4 starter if Joe uses him and if he continues to pitch well.
Wolf, Kuroda and Kershaw should be starters 1-3.
i think hes already gauranteed #4
remember we still havent seen shaw give a full start in weeks
William Doolittle at your service, a.k.a. will do.
I really don’t care if they throw left or right at this point, I just want quality pitching.
Wolf had one good start vs the Cards, Kershaw had 8 great innings and one bad start vs the Cards.
I think so too in many cases.
This case I feel is more about our team instead of their team.
I don’t think were going to sweep the Cards and I don’t think they will sweep us, AND I think were going to use 4 starters this playoffs.
and if we matchup with the Cards, we can somewhat keep them off balance with L Wolf, R Kuroda, L Kershaw, R (Bills, Padilla or Garland)
Did Steve Lyons
