As Eric pointed out
Since the All-Star break, the Pirates have been outscored by 126 runs. That is two runs per game!

In other words, on the average, you can spot the Pirates two runs and be in a tie game situation. The Dodgers have spotted the Pirates three unearned runs. Let’s see how this one turns out, shall we?

by David Young on Sep 25, 2009 6:08 PM PDT reply actions

2 outs, the Dodgers aren’t even trying tonight.

Daryle Ward!!!

by Eric Stephen on Sep 25, 2009 6:23 PM PDT via mobile reply actions

Best ever spelling of Daryle BTW

by Eric Stephen on Sep 25, 2009 6:24 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions

Good LHB off the bench. He was fine before and after his Dodger days

by Eric Stephen on Sep 25, 2009 6:27 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions

Daryle Ward was traded to Houston – from where the Dodgers got him – from Detroit. Detroit sent the following players in that deal: Daryle Ward, Brad Ausmus, Jose Lima, Trever Miller, all of whom later played for the Dodgers.

I hate the 1-1 pitchout

Automatically puts you into a hitter’s count, and a good count to run on.

by David Young on Sep 25, 2009 6:42 PM PDT reply actions

Agreed

I hate it almost as much as the 3-0 pitchout

Scott Elbert returns to the scene of the crime.

Last year, Scott Elbert was move extensively until he helped give up 7 runs in an inning to the Pirates. Then Torre started using McDonald to the point where he made the post season roster.

It's the 8th inning

Why not gain the max advantage against the RH hitting McCutcheon? I approve this move.

Just one of those games.

by David Young on Sep 25, 2009 7:02 PM PDT reply actions

Zero walks allowed by the Pirates tonight, one HBP

Hard to believe that cast of pitchers held down the Dodgers, but baseball happens.

by David Young on Sep 25, 2009 7:04 PM PDT reply actions

Braves won.

If the Rockies lose tonight we can clinch both playoffs and division tomorrow.

by Eric Stephen on Sep 25, 2009 7:05 PM PDT via mobile reply actions

Eric Collins is kind of a doomsdayer, isn’t he?

by DJDodger on Sep 25, 2009 7:06 PM PDT reply actions

Think about this for a while

In 2006 – Dodgers went 9-1 in their final 10 games, got swept.

In 2008 – Dodgers went 4-5 in their final 9 games and swept the Cubs.

by bhsportsguy on Sep 25, 2009 7:07 PM PDT reply actions

I blame this one on G20

How dare they inconvenience the Dodgers, having security so tight that boys didn’t get to their hotels until dawn! With the kind of year the Dodgers have had, and with the kind of year the world has had, it should be the other way around!

by sarcastro9 on Sep 25, 2009 7:07 PM PDT reply actions

I didn't see it, but that near collision by Manny & Kemp

….was probably a product of their embarrassment from the dropped fly ball “single” the other night. Note to guys- it is really, REALLY not worth it. We can take another embarrassing play in the outfield, over one (or both) of you getting hurt…and in LATE SEPTEMBER, no less!

by sarcastro9 on Sep 25, 2009 7:14 PM PDT reply actions

Manny also let a catchable flyball fall in for a run as well early in the game.

Manny has some pride. He’ll try to catch balls he thinks he can catch.

by Tripon on Sep 25, 2009 7:16 PM PDT up reply actions

Bucs Dugout site kinda depressing even when they WIN

I think they want that first draft pick next year. Seriously. They deserve it, too, as they are much worse than the Nationals. That kinda ok record they had at the beginning of the year existed when they had a FEW major league players on their team.
