Not that Garland should get off for giving up a 3 run homer but….

D Eckstein reached on infield single to third. 0 1
A Gonzalez popped out to shortstop. 0 1
C Headley singled to right, D Eckstein to second. 0 1
W Venable flied out to right, D Eckstein to third. 0 1
K Kouzmanoff homered to left, D Eckstein and C Headley scored. 0 4
    N Hundley struck out looking.

Eckstein should have been labeled an error since any competent 3rd baseman makes the play. That was a clear error on Loretta, and if it was the game was at DS, they’d give Loretta the error.

If Eckstein was retired, Venable would have been the 3rd out, and Garland would likely still be pitching.

When they lose to Manny Parra?

About as likely as the Dodgers losing to all of…

Zach Duke
Cesar Ramos / Ryan Webb
Clayton Richard

by Eric Stephen on Sep 30, 2009 9:15 PM PDT up reply actions

Zach Duke was an All-Star

Maybe not a great All-Star, but not a Manny Parra. And the Padres have been one of the best teams in MLB the last five weeks. I’m not surprised frankly.

Though yes, losing one game is less likely than three as a whole…

God

the Padres are like the Cardinals lite. The Cardinals will really wreck you, but if you drink enough of the Padres, it will sneak up on you. Just fucking score a few runs tonight against this guy whose longest outing was 6 2/3 against the Nationals. Urgh.

Provided there is no comeback tonight

the Rockies control their own destiny in the NL West, with an inverse magic number of four. Okay, so it still won’t happen, but all I wanted was a weekend worth something, and as long as we beat Manny Parra at Coors, it will be so, if only for a day.

You wanted to clinch in front of your home fans anyway, right?

by PHAT JULIO on Sep 30, 2009 9:13 PM PDT up reply actions

Pretty good yeah

Jason Hammel got his 10th win tonight. That makes the Rockies the first team to have five starting pitchers with 10+ wins since the 2006 World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals, who also had the worst record among NL playoff teams that year, who also got swept in the World Series in 2006, who also had Jason Marquis on their roster.

Super creepy.

I’m just now starting to get the feeling the Dodgers might not win tonight.

Gibson in the dugout? No? You may be right.

It's this kind of insight

that keeps me returning to TBLA.

Ignorance of the American League is a sign of good moral character.
Look out Dodgers...Purple objects in mirror are closer than they appear.

I'll be the guy in a orange shirt EVERY Monday...Broncos are my team win or lose.

Hey Jeff your brother called

He’s still mad at you for beating him this summer.

Are we seriously blowing up our heads

considering, if we suck, the Phils take the lead, we play St. Louis
if we rule, Phils come in second we play St. Louis
if we loose the division, Phils come in first, we play St. Louis
If we win the division, Phils come in first, we play St. Louis
If we suck enough for Phils to come in first, loose the division, we play the Phils

Can somebody please tell me why any of this matters? Especially where the worst case scenario is we play the Phils instead of St. Louis?

by Dodger Dude on Sep 30, 2009 9:39 PM PDT reply actions

I have to believe that the Phils will rest their guys this weekend

They have played most of the year and the Phils have a 3 game lead over the Cards.

Okay guys

We only had 1 hit all night, and we’re down by 5, it’s the 9th inning. We can do this

by PHAT JULIO on Sep 30, 2009 9:49 PM PDT reply actions

Well the Dodgers have scored 2 runs their past 28 innings, they’re due for a huge inning.

I've said it once, I'll say it again

Chances of the NL West being at stake this weekend?

Is it still “zero”? Or shall I say .00000000000000001? :)

I see what the Dodgers are doing.

Purposely not swinging at strikes, Slowly swinging at hittable balls.

They’re setting up Wainwright and Carpenter for failure.
