love the old picture of Ebbets
thinking about Dodger history, what exactly is a “superba”, and also where exactly does the nickname “daffiness boys” come from
William Doolittle at your service, a.k.a. will do.
I love that Loons article
especially this quote:
The Dodgers not only supplied the Loons with some of the top players in their farm system, they also resisted the urge to promote them.
“This team has some of the best chemistry of any team I’ve been with,” Bustabad said. “They did the job, whoever I put in. It’s been a great team to manage. Continuity was a big part of it. The players stayed together. There wasn’t much movement.”
We all like to see individual players progress through the system, but I think there is some value to being a part of a culture of winning as well. Think of that 2005 Jacksonville team and the team success it had, and all the players that made it to the majors from there. The Loons were certainly a very exciting team this year.
You already said it for me, but while I was first reading that quote from Bustabad, the 2005 Jacksonville team was exactly what I was thinking of. Best of luck to the Loons in the post-season!
