Rave on Trayvon - Dodger Prospect Performances and Minor League Box Scores - Sep 7th, 2009
Trayvon Robinson adjusted to AA pitching on the last day of the Lookout season by hitting two bombs. Trayvon was a pleasant surprise this year and has certainly played his way onto the prospect map. I'll have a hard time finding a bigger surprise who actually looks like a prospect. Switch hitting center-fielder without noticeable depreciation from either side of the plate, which is rare these days for a switch hitter. Growing power, excellent speed, growing discipline, and he just turned 22 last week. Watch-out Mr. Lambo, Mr. Robinson may be passing you by, given his ability to play center-field.
The Ogden Raptors still have six more games for Brian Ruggiano and Brain Cavazos-Galvez to fight over the Pioneer League offensive leader-boards. They are dominating this league and will they should given their age, but hey, plenty of 22/23 year olds in the Pioneer League do nothing so who knows.
Many True Blue prospect aficionados couldn't wait for Garrett Gould to make his professional debut and he did last week by throwing one inning. However his 2nd appearance did not go so well as he could not even get out of the 1st inning. Five runs, four hits, and one walk don't look good but compared to how recent fave Carl Webster did it doesn't look so bad. After making every appearance a good one in 2009, Mr. Webster imploded yesterday giving up nine hits in two innings of work. Let's hope the arm is okay and he gets one more start. Hate to end the year with that stinker being on your mind all winter after such a great summer of pitching.
Forgotten Loon Jon Dutton got the start in the last game of the regular season for the Loons and he made the best of it, pitching four solid innings of two hit, one run ball, with six strikeouts and no walks.

Justin Miller
sigh
Man, is this guy even worth it to have on any team in the farm? It’s too bad what has happened to him has.
Cal League
is a tough league, curious to see how Martin/Eovaldi/Miller/Redding fare when they leave the comfy confines of the MWL for the Cal League.
Maybe your expectations were to high?
He’s only made 7 in the Cal league and his FIP is 5.75. He has sucked but what does he offer? He never offered more then a back end rotation guy who needs to live off his sinker. At 22, no reason to give up on him now but on the other hand expectations should be minimal that he ever makes a major league impact. He wasn’t ranked as a top 15 prospect for a reason.
Pretty much.
Though his GB rates appeal to me.
And it sucks how he can’t seem to learn a decent breaking pitch. :o

Why did he get pushed in the first place
is a better question to ask.
He’s a extreme groundballer that relies on balls in the play because he can’t strike batters out. Welcome to hell in the Cal League.
He needs to refine his slider or he’ll never be more than organization depth. That wasn’t happening at low-A, yet I saw they pushed him and had no idea why.
