SB Nation Los Angeles Editor's Pick
2010 Dodgers Project
Beginning this season I wanted to keep track of all levels of the Dodgers system. I created an excel document that would capture a lot of aspects of the organization in ways you can't find on any old web site. I created 3 data bases and each data base populates a lot of information. So while you'll see a lot of info I did not type all of it out, just populated it from data bases.
There are several pages that you may enjoy:
- Minor league directory
- Stadium directory
- Transactions page that allows you to filter names and reasons for a player to be on there.
- The standings section has some interesting information broken down.
- Rosters section has opening day and final rosters listed as well as pictures of some players.
- Draft class has some information as well for those who are not as familiar with it.
I know all of you are die hard fans so a lot of the information is nothing new. However, my goal is to one day have a blog and have this file available on a daily basis for fans who don't have time to go to 3-4 different web sites to get the information i have here.
Any suggestions is welcome. I am thinking of doing this in future years as it won't take as long since i have the template set up. You need excel to view this. Thanks for viewing.

You fans are amazing
I used to think I was loopy but I’ve got nothing on this new group of fans. I mean that as a compliment. I’d suggest to everyone to check out the spreadsheet at:

and download it.
Between Brandon’s 200 player prospect list and Kram’s (Dodgerblue8188) bountiful spreadsheet about the Dodgers 2010 season, our future is in good hands from an information point of view. We may not be very good but we have the best information about our not very good team. I mean Kram pretty much created a book about the Dodgers in spreadsheet form.
For some reason I expect a few more of you have done something similar. Your kind of scary, but luckily for us, your out there.

My focus has been more about Kershaw and Billingsley this season, lol
Though I followed Kyle Russell and Jerry Sands just about every day as well.

Thanks for posting this here
I know you spent a lot of time (and lunch hours) doing this. Looks like all your hard work paid off!
Sands 2 - 4 but playing LF

2 for 5, 2 singles, GIDP, 1 Strikeout
Meh day for Sands, but it’s barely his first game.
His page isn’t working, I guess MLB.com is working on the new photos of their faces that display on their page..

Thanks guys
It means a lot. A lot of the time spent was actually thinking of ideas on how I can make it interesting and different than your average web site. Obviously you can find stats anywhere but I tried to put things in a different order to catch peoples eyes.
I hope to be able to continue this next season. What I’d like to do is have it put somewhere a few times a weeks so people could check out the updates.
If anybody has some ideas on how I can make it even better feel free to post. Just some random ideas gave me a lot of direction on how to do things.
Btw, Kram = Mark Just so you know.
To bad, I was hoping that Kram was the name
lot of fun in that name. What I liked most was not just the information but how you made the spreadsheet work so easy to navigate. I’d like to see a Hierarchy of the Dodger Organization, how all the special assistants fit in.

noted..
I am thinking of doing a Volume I…Volume II type deal. Add stuff in each season. Your suggestion is something I could work on.
Not sure if you noticed but the roster has some pictures of the players. Unfortunately it makes the excel file larger so I have to be careful on how many pictures I upload.

I actually am happy with the site I’m using now. The first site was ridiculous. Took about 5 minutes to go through the whole process. But this one is a simple mouse click then download. I was just dissapointed I couldn’t use google. You would think google would be the one that would allow a lot of space.

all I can say
is oh my god. This must have taken a LONG time. Absolutely amazing.

thank you!
I updated it daily during my lunch break at work. Usually took about 10 minutes to update but I enjoyed doing it which is the most important thing. I learned so many minor leaguers names by doing this. Makes Brandons reports so much easier to know what’s going on now that I know the names.

you could say it took 3 hours an update
and everyone would believe you… nothing wrong with fibbing a little bit :).
Like I said, this is simply amazing.

Feel free to save it. I did it to share with all of you guys and Dodgers fans everywhere.

I’m going to use the minor league directory.
Oh, and the pic of Raffy is great

yea..
yea I wanted to put that in there to add some Non Dodgers information. Plus it’s a great tool to seeing what teams belong to who. Unfortunately it changes so much year after year I’ll have to redue it. Already Inland Empire is gone so Rancho would be taken A balls spot.

pics
I really didn’t get as many good pictures as I wanted, with space being a problem I couldn’t get really large pictures. Even this excel file is too large for google documents to put online. 1 mb max for them. I kind of wanted just regular face pictures of the guys to give people an idea on who the guy was.

It's all about the memories
I forgot to mention. One of the main reasons I did this is because I love looking back at old information. I wanted something that would give me a nice snap shot of 2010, 10-15 years from now! Because of this project I can look at pictures of these guys, see there stats, how the minor league teams did, see who was on the 40 man roster and see the standings all in one file.
I understand that
when I created my first minor league spreadsheet in about 2006 it helped me learn everyone, but the fun part is going back to it and seeing the names that just drift away with barely a minor league note that their dream was over, and that real world gravity had knocked them out of the dream world orbit, and brought them into the fold.

Awesoke job Mark
I couldn’t download it at work (not permitted), but I finally got to look at it tonight at home. I’m only scratching the surface of the content, but I like what I see so far. I do like being able to see all the transactions in one easy to scroll through list instead of broken up by month or some such thing – your comments on that page are good too.

Sounds awesome
Can’t actually download it at work, but I’m looking forward to checking it out when i get home.

He picks Yankees over Phillies in W.S. – surprise there. Did he join our pool? Had some good comments about the Rays world not coming to an end with their pending loss of Pena, Crawford and a few others – kind of what we mentioned here yesterday. He did make the mistake of saying that the Rangers having to start Game #3 is a big advantage for the Yankees.
I look forward
to looking at this! Super impressed :)

So I posted this excel file on another website and a poster replied back…“you’re everwhere” and posted this link lol.
I’m happy it’s getting recognized. So whomever posted it, thank you.
