I like it.

I don’t like it during a baseball game.

But I would never speak like that about that song.

also, star spangled banner should never ever be sung. I’m down for a dramatic reading, but it is a goddamn poem not a song. Stop butchering it.

Not cycling through managers and front offices will do that too. Tony LaRussa has the media eating out of his hand in St. Louis, The Boston Media loves Terry Francona, Joe Torre could do no wrong with the Yankees according to the New York media, and Bobby Cox ruled the ALT.

I knew a guy named Ferb, now Ferb wasn’t his real name of course but we all called him that cause of the time when he forgot the beef jerky. Ferb knew where to get the best beef jerky, reminded me of my mom’s, god rest her soul. My mom could outcook any mom in the great state of Texas, which is what I started talking about to begin with. Now Ferb…

Tonight, at dinner

The guy I’m dating was asking me about the best players on the Giants and the Phillies…and then asked me to pick one. I picked Halladay, but he was disqualified from being picked because he wasn’t playing today. So I picked Buster Posey.

He then said, “Ok. Go Giants!”

I just looked at him with horror.

this was in the context of him trying to figure out who he should be rooting for, as he was aware I hated both teams.

I told him the correct response was “Go baseball” or “Go earthquake”

Gigantic grain of salt

but some dude named Dave Gershman on Twitter says the deal is 3 years, $33 million.

I have no idea who that guy is, nor do I have reason to believe him, but that is the only numbers I have seen on Twitter so far.

I am not a fan of that contract, at least not relatively, but I’m willing to hold off the torches and pitchforks just yet.

If it’s true Lilly will get more per year from 35-37 than he did for 31-34.

Oh well according to Heyman

it was a good deal so no worries.

Heyman claims that Lilly would have gotten more in FA. I doubt that. This is more than what Wolf got last year. Ned basically paid full price for Lilly in both years and salary.

You can get to $11 million by cutting Theriot, Sherrill, and the not having to pay anymore deferred payments to Will Ohman, Normar Garriparria, Orlando Hudson, Jason Repko, and Jason Schimdt.

Hindsight being what it is, but we could have made this offer without trading for him.

I hope we don’t see justification for Lilly signing with the Dodgers because of the trade.

LOL RT @MikeSciosciasTI: Finished a 4/40 deal. If 3/33 is legit, then he increased his annual value despite being 35 and on the decline.

Is that saying more about Ned

or more about the starting pitching market? I’ll sit on the fence and say both.

Danys Baez and Jason Marquis both got three year deals that offseason, and Barry Zito got 130. Things haven’t gotten worse than that.
