I always get Ritz Carlton ads, and I figured it was because my wife works for the Ritz Carlton so we are on that website quite a bit.
By the way, happy Thanksgiving to everyone…I’ve been pretty busy at work the past few weeks so haven’t had much time to comment. Also, I’ll start posting my 200 Dodgers minor league countdown next week so that has kept me busy writing those. But I have still be reading all the comments at night and the conversations have been great, and I’m sad I won’t be able to make it to Karaoke since my family is celebrating Thanksgiving on Friday this year

I don't buy lighting accessories

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Yes, even you meercat.
"Save that for the girl chat rooms. No here cares that you are sentimental and sweet. Jose [sic] already passed on you, Dodger SF is having a mid 20’s relationship crisis living in a town where she can’t love anyone because they are either gay or Giant fans, Maddz is stuck in Theology hell, and Teal is married. Not sure what is up with Connector. And my nieces are off limits. Sporky hates you because you adorn the cover of Jon’s book."
Happy Thanksgiving
to all ya alls. :)

I’m thankful for completely insane rumors
Spanish newspaper El Nueva Dia reports the Mets and Diamondbacks are talking about a blockbuster that would send Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, and Jenrry Mejia to Arizona for Justin Upton and Stephen Drew. At least that is what I get from this translation.
And if you can’t trust Puerto Ricos #1 newspaper, who can you trust?
I do that if I’m the Mets.
Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.
It would be much worse for Arizona than the Haren trade.

DodgerSF
can check out those rumors personally in a week.

Unless like 2 or 3 more really good prospects are going to arizona
that makes no sense to me.

Here's hoping Dilbeck is right
offer Sherrill a major league contract for 650k with incentives up to 4mil based on appearances and IP, and let him come in in the 7th inning against the other teams best lefty and then have Don Mattingly contractually obligated to not let him face a righty.
Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.
But if you base the incentives on him getting back to being a legit setup guy, he could be worth $4mil. So if he’s used as a LOOGY, he doesn’t reach the incentives and ends up making between 1-1.5mil. If he gets his mojo back, he gets paid what he’d be worth.
Also, how exactly do you think that whole Will Ohman thing worked out?
Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.
Injuries happen
not much you can do about that.
LAST SEASON, I led this team in ninth-inning doubles in the month of August!
Smart way to construct that contract
would be that as a loogy he wouldn’t be able to meet those incentives, but if he pitches well enough to not be a loogy he can.
LAST SEASON, I led this team in ninth-inning doubles in the month of August!
sorry, that’s what I was trying to say. Just didn’t make it very clear.

Lawler's Law
for Clippers the record is 10-1 (only 5 games did both teams score 100 or more points).
Lakers, 13-0 (8 games where both teams score 100 or more points).
Jon Garland
Take this with all the salt in Utah.
Somebody at Dodgers.com claims to know Garland’s “friend.” And the Dodgers will announce his signing shortly.
If this is true, thoughts?
I'd take him
but I am very skeptical of that report, simply because I think Ned is most likely focusing on the offense right now. There will probably be plenty of 5th starter types available for cheap later in the offseason.
If we end up with Garland, fine. If we sign Garland in November, I’m going to be pissed.
by Michael White on Nov 26, 2010 7:38 AM PST up reply actions
I would love to get Garland to be our 5th starter. If this is true it appears that Ned wants to finish the pitching staff before focusing on offense. Hopefully its not more than 3yrs/21M. If we were to get Garland than we would have a great starting rotation of Kershaw,Billingsley,Lilly,Kuroda and Garland. Now we should go after a LF like Willingham or Ordonez to improve our offense. Adam Dunn is another guy I want but I don’t know about him playing LF.
Why would they give Garland more than 1 year?
I agree with the rest of your take though.

Twins right right to overpay their second baseman

Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.
Garland is probably looking for 2-3 years and should be able to get it because he is durable and throws a lot of innings.
He only got one year at $4.7MM last year. And I don’t really care what Garland’s looking for (it’s nice to want things) since there are still plenty of free agent pitchers on the market. I assume Padilla would be available late on a 1 year deal and he’s a better pitcher (when he pitches) anyway.
by Michael White on Nov 26, 2010 8:53 AM PST up reply actions
Hopefully we go with DeJesus for 2B. He will put up better numbers than Theriot who should be non tendered.
Should get?
Dunn.
Will they get?
I do think Magglio is an option. Like you said, I like Willingham a lot but you didn’t hear the Dodgers expressing any interest there.
by Michael White on Nov 26, 2010 8:58 AM PST up reply actions
They probably end up bringing back Pod boy. No chance on Beltre, Werth or Crawford. Maybe there’s some trade out there that will blow us all out of the water. Otherwise, let’s hope Sands is a star.
by Michael White on Nov 26, 2010 9:01 AM PST up reply actions
I don’t hope Sands if Ellsbury. Oh wait…
by Eric Stephen on Nov 26, 2010 10:55 AM PST up reply actions
What do you guys think about Luke Scott? Good power and would be great for the middle of our lineup.
If you can get him for cheap, sure, but he’s gonna give you 500 PA of average production for nine million.
by regfairfield on Nov 26, 2010 9:20 AM PST up reply actions
He will not cost 9 million more like 6 million. He will give you about 25 homeruns and 80 rbi.
by dodgers4life on Nov 26, 2010 9:23 AM PST up reply actions
Am I missing something, he had a wOBA of .387. That’s pretty solid.
by Michael White on Nov 26, 2010 9:28 AM PST up reply actions
Sorry, thought he got six million this year.
Scott was great this year but every year before than he had a .340-.350 wOBA, I’d expect something closer to that.
by regfairfield on Nov 26, 2010 9:33 AM PST up reply actions
Your perception of average is pretty warped
Ok, maybe I’m not counting defense, but I still contend defense=/=offense in value.
"If we hit that bull's eye, the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate"
Scott is still under Baltimore’s control. The salary won’t be too high; he made $4.05m in his 2nd year of arb last year (he was a super 2). His platoon splits are a career .877 OPS vs RHP and .788 OPS vs LHP.
Considering LA gave the O’s Josh Bell to get Sherrill, I don’t know what McPhail would want for Scott.
by StolenMonkey86 on Nov 26, 2010 11:35 AM PST up reply actions
So.. its looking like Theriot will be tenedered.
And I dont really mind. I dont think hes as bad as some make him out to be on TBLA.
I still think Beltre is our best fit. Beltre, Furcal, Theriot and Loney is a really good defensive infield, and will make the pitching staff that much better.
The A’s offered him 5/60 and got shot down.
by regfairfield on Nov 26, 2010 9:07 AM PST up reply actions
I might offer him 5yrs/65M if I had to. I think he would resign back with us if we offered that. We need a 3B and don’t have any good ones in the minors.
JJ Hardy
What do you guys think about JJ Hardy for 2B.I think he could be non tendered by the Twins because they might get that japanese infielder. He has shown good power in the past and could rebound next season. Worth a shot?
Happy Tryptophan Recovery Day
aka Black Friday, all.
I was in Marin for T Day too but didn’t see Humma anywhere. I looked for the trail of gin and stuffing.
the Derek Jeter contract talks are making me laugh, I have to say.
Ciao for nao.

Per Dylan H:
The #Dodgers have reach an agreement on a contract with Jon Garland.
Post coming soon.
Now that’s a rotation. Now to see if we’re flush with cash, have a non tenderfest coming, or we’re scoring 600 runs this year.
by regfairfield on Nov 26, 2010 12:19 PM PST up reply actions
Nice rotation
Shouldn’t be too many starts given to replacement level pitchers now (the likes of Weaver, Haeger, Monasterios, Ortiz I, Ortiz II) etc…
Right, but we just added a solid innings eater. So that means less innings to the likes of Monasterios. Health to the likes of Kuroda and Billingsley will be the limiting factor (like you mentioned).
I know, I’m just trying not to jinx it.

However, the terms of the contract will determine how much I really like it. Now we need to add a bat like Magglio, Willingham, and Dunn and Ill be optimistic this season
