How Do You Feel About Jeff Weaver's New Son's Name?

New dad Jeff Weaver and new Uncle Jered demonstrate how brotherly love works as a lesson for baby Drake. (Chris Carlson / AP)

Jeff Weaver became a father for the first time on Wednesday.  The baby boy weighed in at 8 pounds, as reported by Dylan Hernandez.  The parents chose "Drake" as the baby's first name.  Congratulations to the entire Weaver family, even Uncle Jered.

From Dylan Hernandez:

Loney, Belliard and Stults are slated to go to Taiwan. Sherrill isn’t.

More from Torre
I want to see what Blake DeWitt looks like at second base. I know about Belliard. Larry Bowa has been pleased with his footwork and progress at second base. We have enough quality that we can have the position played well. We need to figure out how many infielders we can carry.
I think Raffy is of no concern medically. He seems comfortable and confident.

On tonight’s event with Mr. Koufax:

I’m comfortable in that type of setting for better or worse. I’m really looking forward to it. I can’t wait to talk to Sandy and I hope our conversations will sound like when we talk in our office. Of course, TJ will be in the way.

Gurnick interviewed Repko:

“I can read the writing on the wall, but I have to stay as positive as I can, play hard and stay healthy to prove that I can help a team,” said Repko. “I know that basically I’m insurance.”

Repko is a AAAA player. Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem willing to accept that he’s not a major league hitter.

If someone kept giving you a major league contract every year, would you doubt your ability?

by Eric Stephen on Feb 27, 2010 10:07 AM PST up reply actions

I think he’s good enough to be a MLB 4th outfielder. His minor league stats and what he dud in limited MLB evperience seem to confirm that, no?

by LA Taco on Feb 27, 2010 2:47 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

Nah, he legitimately sucks with the bat. I suppose a second division team could afford to carry him as a no-hit OF, but not us.

Tsunami Watch

Massive 8.8 earthquake off of Chile. Best to stay off of the beaches today – just in case. Tsunami expected to hit Hawaii around 1PM PST. Check your local news stations for further details.

Should only be a two footer, most people won’t notice. But best to stay away from the water.

I am, but most people would call me a hater in general. I was rooting for the Colts just so there was no New Orleans feel good story.

Too obvious? . . . I would like to announce that I’m already pre-annoyed by the ridiculous stories that will be written about Torre when the Yankees come to town.

I really wanted that to be in New York. Would be so much sweeter to beat them over there.
