we need a beard nickname contest...

over at the celtics blog they had a contest where everyone posts saying a new nicname for glen big baby davis…

and then the site manager would ask big baby to pick the best nickname out of all of them… and the person won free tickets to a celtics game..

Mr. Technique - or - The Technician - or - Mr. Tech - or

Because his defensive technique at third (footwork, angles to the ball, throwing motion, positioning) is nearly perfect

and is there a beard bobblehead night for next year?

if so then they have to make new bobbleheads to take off the beard

by matthewmafa on Feb 7, 2010 12:58 PM PST reply actions

No Blake bobblehead in 2010

Here’s the list:

May 18 – Andre Ethier

June 8 – Jonathan Broxton

July 20 – James Loney

August 17 – Matt Kemp

by Eric Stephen on Feb 7, 2010 1:01 PM PST up reply actions

I’ve got my Kemp, so the next one I’d want is Ethier, then Broxton, then Loney in that order for 2010.

by Ivdown on Feb 7, 2010 1:08 PM PST up reply actions

Good thing you chose that order! :)

by Eric Stephen on Feb 7, 2010 1:10 PM PST up reply actions

I honestly didn’t even realize what order the schedule was before I said that, haha.

by Ivdown on Feb 8, 2010 12:15 AM PST up reply actions

Oh the horror!

Could “shave” and few seconds of his sprinting!
New Nicknames? I think something quick like Skin or Chinley or Indy or Face or Hamstring…

by RawhideBlue on Feb 7, 2010 2:12 PM PST reply actions

Chinley made me laugh pretty hard. Nice.

Seeing Chinley and Lord Chadwick (“His Royal Thighness”) in the same game will be hilarious

by Eric Stephen on Feb 7, 2010 2:14 PM PST up reply actions

I was going to call him The Chin

but as I told Eric that conjures up visions of Leno that I don’t want. (And as Eric pointed out, Blake DeWitt could end up like Conan in that scenario.)

Please grow it back Beardie!

There's no need to fear, Underdog is here! / Broncos/Dodgers fan in Niners/Raiders/Giants country, and damned proud of it.

Dear God

I'm nobody's fool, least of all yours

He’ll come into spring training clean shaven. No one will know who he is. He’ll hit a homerun and no one will yell “Beard!!!!!!!!!!!!”. He’ll wonder, “WTF????”, and quit shaving the next day (Tuesday). By Saturday he’ll be, most definitely, “Beard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”.

It could go into the regular season but the first time he goes hitless in 2 straight games (guaranteed first week of the season; no offense, I like Blake) he’ll quit shaving. My money’s on Spring Training.

Ah, discussed near the end of the Shawn Green post. Eric witty yet again.

I like "The Chin".

Or how bout “Dr. Chinenstien” or “Chinmiester” or " Chinster" " Andre and the Chinmunk". But I keep coming back to “The Chin”.

B-Pro’s top 11 Dodgers prospects are out and they consider both Dee Gordon, and Chris Withrow 5 star(top 50) prospects.

by Tripon on Feb 8, 2010 9:06 AM PST reply actions

yup

that guys list is almost ALL about upside

by matthewmafa on Feb 8, 2010 9:16 AM PST up reply actions

At least people won’t call me Casey Blake anymore when I wear my jersey.

by robotmadeofnails on Feb 8, 2010 9:28 AM PST reply actions

Doh!

Send him to the Isotopes until he can step up and bring back the beard.

Woohoo, I get to look forward to another 7-6 season ("at best") in 2010! There's nothing like going to Idaho for a bowl game.
