Manny and Loney
doing well this game. Announcers impressed by them both. I think. Maybe. Or they’re talking about omlettes. What do I know?
There's no need to fear, Underdog is here! / Broncos/Dodgers/Lakers fan in Niners/Raiders/Giants/Warriors country, and damned proud of it.
talked about Loney's new contract
A few things they (and the CPBL team) are impressed from this and last game: Stults’ changeup. Paul’s arm. Carroll’s defense. Everything Manny.
Nice
even when I don’t understand them they’re still better than Ken Levine was the other day.

LOL
Did anyone just catch how they were talking about how Belliard replaced Hudson last year? I THINK that’s what they were saying, anyway.
I believe I heard something about “I thought Torre was supposed to be a great communicator?” :)

reminds me of the time last year against the Braves
when he tried to score on a sacrifice fly that, I believe, was caught by the third baseman!
If it’s any consolation, the play wasn’t close :)

The catcher doesn't want anything to do with Manny, either.
Kao is a small guy. He probably weighs 50 lbs. less than Manny.
I could use a little more unprovoked confrontation. You know, like Joe West!

kinda off topic
but do most people agree that this is Loney’s make or break year? show some power or we start looking?
He's probably ok
for one more year then. But he isn’t much of a bargain next year if he doesn’t hit a little better. Might be nice to have an Olmedo cheapy type who can be atleast average with the glove to play against lefties.
vr, Xei
Sort of
:-)
Depends on how much power are we talking about. But yeah I’d say if he can hit 15-20 this year while still doing the other things at the plate that’ll be enough to keep him safe.
There's no need to fear, Underdog is here! / Broncos/Dodgers/Lakers fan in Niners/Raiders/Giants/Warriors country, and damned proud of it.
Yes and no
Yes on he needs to show some pop and some hitting at home, but in either case, I don’t see the Dodgers going after anyone else.
by bhsportsguy on Mar 13, 2010 10:54 PM PST up reply actions
eh, I don't know
even if Loney is roughly as good (or bad) as he was last year, the Dodgers are gonna have bigger things to worry about. I think he’d have to regress, or Lambo would have to impress, in order for something to happen in ’11.
Hard not to love Brian Barton
From Gurnick:
Barton’s statistical goals can be measured in hundreds, but it’s not about home runs or RBIs.
“I want to visit a couple hundred countries eventually. That’s a lifetime goal,” he said.
Awesome
I wonder if I’ve even driven through 100 cities

Towers has looked pretty solid
in his appearances. So has Ramon Ortiz for the most part. And Stults. As part of the ABRuO* contingent.
(*anyone but Russ Ortiz.)

You don't any what?
;-)
I’m telling you, whoever the last man in the pen is, or long reliever, as long as it isn’t RuOrtiz I’ll be ok with it. (But it should be Stults as #5 and someone like Link or Monasterios or the like as last man in pen, at least til Bellisario is sorted out.)

Let me just say I won’t be rushing out to purchase any “CPBL” caps. The only thing that makes them better than my little league caps is that they’re fitted.
Speaking of that, I did love last weekend when the White Sox minor leaguer entered the game late at SS, wearing an adjustable cap, and Rick & Charley were just beside themselves in fits of laughter.

But they are all over the place in Taiwan. You put your life at risk every time you try to cross a street because of them. I usually just stand in the middle of the pack of people and cross with the pack.

Monasterios...
rewatched the kershaw game. so this kid pitch. Rule 5 pick up could have a chance..dirty change up.
if there is one thing the Dodgers do well, its finding ace middle relief arms out of no where. anyone have radar numbers on his pitches?
Lindblom! Okay, I'm not going to bed just yet.

He was probably experiencing the itch I have now, and was dismayed that he kept getting held back by the catcher, so he decided to do something about it :)
by Eric Stephen on Mar 13, 2010 11:32 PM PST up reply actions
Alcantara had hit a pair of home runs off Red Barons pitcher Pete Zamora in May. Zamora later retaliated by hitting Alcantara with a pitch and was suspended and fined by the league. And the day before Izzy’s kick-and-charge, he again homered off Zamora and, in the pitcher’s view, may have hot-dogged with an arrogant trot around the bases.
Yeah, but still. Kick the catcher.
I mean, in 100+ years of baseball who had been bonkers enough to do it. I mean, I’m sure Carl Everett thought about it and Milton Bradley would have toyed with the idea, but to actually do it….. real man of genius.
Or something.
