Howie Stalwick: Willie Davis Was My Hero " Kitsap Sun
Willie Davis' death at age 69 brings back memories of his day with the Spokane Indians. This is a great story, a FanPost was put up for this but I can't bring it to the top of the front page so I've added the story here.

Lindblom
I really wish he could break camp with us. After seeing him a couple times this spring, I’m convinced he’s legit. His stuff could play right now at the back of our bullpen, and depending on Beli/Tron, we might be calling on him sooner than later. He actually reminds me a little of Joba Chamberlain.
I'm still not convinced he can't start
so I’d rather see him get innings. I do agree he’d be better then some of our other options but man I’d hate to relegate him to the bullpen right now.

Lindblom would be absolutely dominant in the back of the pen. But management seems determined to build up his innings (which is a good thing if he’ll eventually get a crack at the 5th spot).

Roster wise
It just doesn’t make sense now, they really want to keep the 3 guys they have to (Stults, Haegar and Monasterios) plus they can control is appearances much more in AAA than up in LA. Lindblom wouldn’t pass Kuo, Troncoso, Sherrill or Broxton, in terms of getting into the game, they like Haegar as a multi-appearance/week guy who could pitch in the 6th.
Now, if one of those top 4 go down and Belisario does not work out, then I could see it happening, but not now.
Joe Torre quote
Russ got knocked down, hit on the back and wrist. Corcoran was pitching. No damage, but it was a little too uncomfortable to continue.
Not knowing the context I’m going to guess Martin was taking batting practice and they had to cancel it when the BP pitcher got wild.
He's baaaack
From dodgerthoughts, via @BloggingBombers: Rule 5 pick Jamie Hoffmann cleared outright waivers and was returned to the Dodgers.

We need to add him to the 40-man roster in May. Fine by me.

Why? Isn't there room for them both?
Dodgers could use 3 AAA/AAAA OF-ers for more depth, but I suppose if they find another team interested in Repko’s services they’d trade him as reported.
At any rate, glad to have Hoffmann back.

Unlikely
They had a chance to choose Hoffmann over Repko last year, but called up Repko instead and DFA’d Hoffman. I don’t know what has changed to make them change their minds now. They will find another way to add him to the 40-man IMO.

I posted in other thread, but by May, Haeger or Stults could have already been DFA’d.

Yeah
and you never know who could be on the 60-day DL

Given that I don't expect Hoffman or Paul
to be regulars I am of the opinion we’d be just fine with Hoffman and Paul instead of Johnson and Anderson. With Barton and Repko providing insurance.

Joe Sheehan on the Royals
This is an awful baseball team, just awful. You could release seven or eight guys off the top tiers of the depth chart without blinking. There’s a staggering amount of veteran dead weight, and not the way that the Tigers have it, the dead end of bad contracts handed out in better days. Over the past year the Royals have brought in a bunch of players who occupy the useless zone a notch above replacement-level, guys like Scott Podsednik and Rick Ankiel and Yuniesky Betancourt and Josh Fields and … … Jason Kendall and Kyle Farnsworth and Willie Bloomquist. It’s like a category on “Remote Control”: “Dead or Royal?”
Hoffman speculation at rotowire:
Hoffman was in a battle for a reserve outfield job, but magained just three hits in 23 at-bats this spring (.130). As a Rule 5 pick, he had to be returned to the Dodgers unless he was on the Opening Day roster, which wasn’t going to happen after such a weak spring. There’s been rumors that the Yankees will try to re-acquire him in a trade, which would allow them to assign him to Triple-A until his bat comes around, but there’s nothing confirmed on the trade front just yet.
