Just saying
I’m watching one more half inning, then starting a new game thread, and heading back to work

See? Manny leads, the others follow.
It’s a beautiful thing to watch.

AWw DeWitt
You’re not The Flash or Superman, so why?
Look at that, he hit the f*cking bull! Guy gets a free steak!
Well that didn't seem very patient.

No. Ball got away from snyder, but only a few feet. Dewitt took off and was out by 2 yards.

Good inning Dodgers, I’m going analog for awhile…have fun!

which I guess means I’m writing down my thoughts and mailing them to the Dodger fan club or….what did y’all do before the internet?

There once were bars with actual people in them with which we could interact. It was wild.

This must have been before every bar thought itself a disco and started blasting music so loud you can’t talk

So ...
It really is a shame Manny had to kill that rally with a homer.
I’m never, ever letting this go. Screw you, Steve Lyons.
Still only thrown 85 pitches, could come out for one more inning.

Kershaw needs a few really efficient innings or we’ll need a lot more runs before handing this over to the bullpen.
If Kershaw makes it to the 7th...
I’m gonna dance a happy dance in my seat.
to the 7th or through the 7th into the 8th?
I think if he gives us 7 innings, and we can then hand it over to anyone and then Brox for the 9th we’ll be sittin’ pretty.
by Seanny Rotten on Apr 13, 2010 2:46 PM PDT up reply actions
Interesting move not pinch hitting for Kennedy. I thought for sure he would with Snyder now on base.
You shouldn’t want to bunt. It’s not the desirable outcome.

wtf could he possibly be telling the pitchers!? This is crazy.

I’m not sure if this is correct what I’m looking at, but these are Maddux’s numbers when facing the 9th batter in the lineup:
1,946 PA
52 BB
Zero times
Maddux vs pitchers in his career:
1370 PA
152 sacrifices
88 singles in 1218 AB.
No XBH
No walks
.072/.072/.072
Fucking amazing

A screwed up…
Those are balls fielded by pitcher
not hit by pitcher. My bad…what a maroon
New numbers coming soon.

well he sucks then - he turned 88 comebackers into singles!

I am an idiot
but here are the correct numbers.
26 walks to the pitcher
1451 PA
19 2B
1 HR (by Jason Jennings)
.130/.151/.147

Feels like what pitchers hit like overall, except maybe the slugging is a little low. Maybe the ISOp is low.
The commenter formerly known as El Lay Dave.
Oh jeez
Kershaw, why are you afraid of the pitcher? That is the one batter you should not be afraid to pitch strikes to. Ughhhhh.
Not when you’ve been wild. He’ll have to rely on his fastball
by Michael White on Apr 13, 2010 2:53 PM PDT up reply actions
Agreed. He wouldn’t have gotten Upton at first if he tried to tag third then throw across diamond
by Michael White on Apr 13, 2010 2:53 PM PDT up reply actions
Don't do that
A lot of people are following along on the game threads.

That wasn’t so hard now, was it?

Crappy jam he got himself into
but very impressive to get Upton/LaRoche with bases loaded and only one out without giving up a run.
How 'bout this...
Kershaw picks up his first win of the season. Well, that’s not really a predicition at this point. Kid’s doing well and hangin’ tough.
;-)
Raffy in a mini-slump compared to his previous heat
Maybe he’ll come up big late in the game with some excitement

Who’s the new pitcher? A right-hander, or did they burn their only LOOGY already?

That’s where he gets his offensive power from.

6 for his first 6
0 for 5 with a walk and a sac fly since
by Eric Stephen on Apr 13, 2010 3:13 PM PDT up reply actions
With the way the offense is set up
If Martin and Dewitt hit 7 and 8 all year, it could lead to a lot of runs at the bottom of the lineup with situations like this. There is the pesky 9 spot, but lots of chances for runs with the OBP that this team is likely to have.
Has to be the most patient 7-8 in the game.
by UCLADodger32 on Apr 13, 2010 3:14 PM PDT up reply actions
This game is going to let out right in time for rush hour
And there is a Laker game tonight at Staples.
last Dodger to walk thrice in a home opener was Pedro in 1984
by Eric Stephen on Apr 13, 2010 3:16 PM PDT up reply actions
DeWitt would save money by never buying another bat. There is very little chance of him breaking the one he has.
He may be like Ethier last year and not have his own bat
Which is why he doesn’t want to swing and break somebody elses
another long time for clayton on the bench
interesting to see how he comes out
If the Dodgers continue to average 6 runs per game
I predict good results this season. :)

Weaver warming, Honeycutt talking...
Now, we are fucked.
I was en route last half inning
did we have a Honeycutt PA?
by Eric Stephen on Apr 13, 2010 3:23 PM PDT up reply actions
Kershaw had never walked more than 8 in back-to-back starts before this season.
He now has 10 in his first 2 starts
I meant before the inning. He was at 93 pitches with control problems. It would make sense for someone to be throwing when he went out there.
by UCLADodger32 on Apr 13, 2010 3:28 PM PDT up reply actions
interesting
that kershaw has been the most wild after those two long half innings sittin in the dugout
One of the lousier
6 – 1 5 1/3 games you will see. To straight erratic starts from Clayton. He’s a long way from an ace right now.
Please
Don’t monkey this game up pen. If you do, I’ll cut you! (with a knife)
