Could have double switched with Carroll at 2B

I think thats why he is being used here. Torre doesnt want to overuse him, and hes worked a lot already this year.
by UCLADodger32 on Apr 14, 2010 9:32 PM PDT up reply actions
I do like the decision to use him there, though. Second best reliever in an important spot. I guess i can give Torre a little bit of credit there.
by UCLADodger32 on Apr 14, 2010 9:34 PM PDT up reply actions
maybe they'll let him hit
a reliever who gets the first out needs to stay in, the way things are going now
I expected Bills to make progress this year.
I guess all the D-Bags on BBTN were right to question our pitching.
IE gets Aaron Miller off the hook in the 9th

Somewhere in the reserved level tonight, Dave turned to someone near him and said “that’s why they call him” and than pointed very dramatically to CF

guess it’s not just the Isotopes tonight.
But if you click on the At Bat tab while you’re on Gameday, you get a whole new format that is similar to Gameday, but looks different.
It just shows the fielders…audio works from either tab

it’s blue inside, but you’d have to be in an oxygen deprived environment for it to come out blue, so you’d be dead anyway

It’ll be interesting if he pushes similar FIP numbers this year. I think people who pointed to the two similar FIP numbers he had in 08 and 09 and said he was the same pitcher were mistaken. His stuff seemed different (and worse) in 09.
You could argue
He was better in 2009 than 2008.

Fellow Rule 5ers
Frank Lankford (1998) and Jose Antonio Nuñez (2001) lasted until May before being sent back. Will Monasterios last that long?
Monk does have a ML-ready changeup
I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt
Those guys should be up already. This whole losing games because of crappy middle relief is getting old with the talent in the minors.

Wait, so you guys have given up on Monasterios...why?
This game?
What happened to all the fucking sackriding in these threads during Spring Training? Now he can’t last? During ST did he have more innings pitched about high-A?
What the fuck? :o
No
I’m saying the team will give up on him.
They don’t want to use him in close games, and when they do he doesn’t respond. Unfair? Probably. But reality

They shouldn't have had to for most of the year
And they still likely won’t have to if they make the right decisions in the coming week.
by Chad Moriyama on Apr 14, 2010 10:18 PM PDT up reply actions
I didnt get the whole excitement. He isnt like Belisario who has electric stuff. Dude has a high 80s fastball and a good change with okay command, and a successful spring shouldnt have fooled anyone.
by UCLADodger32 on Apr 14, 2010 10:13 PM PDT up reply actions
He has upside at the back of the bullpen
Unlike the Ortiz’s. He’s a fine candidate to be a bullpen guy.
by Chad Moriyama on Apr 14, 2010 10:15 PM PDT up reply actions
He just looks like a poor mans Corey Wade to me, I think im just biased on non hard throwers in the bullpen, but Monk doesnt strike me as a guy we needed to keep on the squad to protect. Guy with his stuff are not exactly rare,
by UCLADodger32 on Apr 14, 2010 10:18 PM PDT up reply actions
command is pretty rare on the dodgers, actually
by Chad Moriyama on Apr 14, 2010 10:18 PM PDT up reply actions
And Monk has command? Wade, when right, has command. Monk is not in that category.
by UCLADodger32 on Apr 14, 2010 10:19 PM PDT up reply actions
If you use today's game as evidence he doesn't have command
i’m ending this discussion
by Chad Moriyama on Apr 14, 2010 10:20 PM PDT up reply actions
Nothing I’ve seen from him in the 4 or 5 times ive seen him points to him having command.
by UCLADodger32 on Apr 14, 2010 10:21 PM PDT up reply actions
i have no response
it’s about as valid as me saying in the two dozen times i’ve seen him he has command
by Chad Moriyama on Apr 14, 2010 10:24 PM PDT up reply actions
If this bullpen worked, I say keep him on the roster as the long man. But the only ones who can actually pitch in the bullpen right now are Troncoso and Broxton. What we need is to do a wholesale change and the team will probably start with Monk first.
But they shouldn't
I don’t care what they will actually do, pretending to think like an idiot makes my head hurt.

Looks like its Kadeem Jack and maybe a transfer from a 4 year D1 school.
Mike rosario maybe??
That would bea thing of beauty if Miller can get him. . did you hear about the 250 K donation the Miller family gave to U OF A?

Rosario
would definitely add some big man depth. We’ll see…yeah that donation is awesome. looks like Miller is bunkering down for the long haul; which is a great thing.
i just see
adding Kadeem Jack and calling it a class while focusing on Nick Johnson, Angel Nunez and keeping Sidiki Johnson committed.

As bad as he normally is
I guess even shitty defensive 3rd basemen have great games. Still sucks for us
he’s not really known for his defense but I have definitely seen him make some big plays against the Dodgers in this game and others against the Dodgers.
I also saw him get heckled mercilessly by some young guy a couple years ago. He made an error after the worst of the heckling, and after that a Dodgers employee came and moved the fan.
because he can't figure out how to tie his shoes?
