Who did Kuo replace on the roster?

by Tripon on Apr 22, 2010 6:10 PM PDT reply actions

Ahh

I was going to make him at least look at the home page for David’s fan shot

by bhsportsguy on Apr 22, 2010 6:11 PM PDT up reply actions

Kuo

rocket fire.

94 MPH.

by Alex41592 on Apr 22, 2010 6:12 PM PDT reply actions

Too bad for Kuo

thought he might get Votto out here…

by rosinbag42 on Apr 22, 2010 6:13 PM PDT reply actions

First three pitches were strikes according to Gameday.

by mochemin on Apr 22, 2010 6:14 PM PDT reply actions

he definitely got squeezed on the first pitch. Its been a strike all game.

by UCLADodger32 on Apr 22, 2010 6:15 PM PDT up reply actions

It’s new guy inning!

by Eric Stephen on Apr 22, 2010 6:14 PM PDT reply actions

Wow. Kuo out for Beli.

by UCLADodger32 on Apr 22, 2010 6:14 PM PDT reply actions

Votto's a tough out

but walking him with a baserunner on seems like a decent indication that he might not be 100%. I don’t have a problem with this at all. I’ll have a problem if it BACKFIRES, of course, but I can’t blame Torre for doing this.

by sarcastro9 on Apr 22, 2010 6:16 PM PDT up reply actions

Walking someone is an indication of not being 100%

Kuo is not perfect, certainly not like vintage Saito.

by bhsportsguy on Apr 22, 2010 6:17 PM PDT up reply actions

well, whether it is or isn't

allowing 2 baserunners out of 3 batters, while perfectly forgiveable, gives a manager a perfect reason to try someone else- especially since the lefty-on-lefty matchups are over

by sarcastro9 on Apr 22, 2010 6:18 PM PDT up reply actions

Why would walking him be an indication he isnt 100%. Healthy pitchers do walk hitters, especially if you throw strikes that are called balls.

by UCLADodger32 on Apr 22, 2010 6:18 PM PDT up reply actions

Loons just finished up there game with a win

Sands with his second 2-run HR in as many games is now hitting .407 with 5 HR and 17 RBI through the first 15 games of the season

by rosinbag42 on Apr 22, 2010 6:15 PM PDT reply actions

Martin didn’t know what to do with the movement on that pitch :)

by Eric Stephen on Apr 22, 2010 6:17 PM PDT reply actions

Loney get on the BAG…

by Alex41592 on Apr 22, 2010 6:18 PM PDT reply actions

Better throw to 1B gets the DP…but Loney had to reach away from the bag

by Eric Stephen on Apr 22, 2010 6:18 PM PDT reply actions

Too bad

that would’ve been nice

by rosinbag42 on Apr 22, 2010 6:18 PM PDT reply actions

Wow, Kemp has looked bad on the timing of his jumps this year

by Eric Stephen on Apr 22, 2010 6:19 PM PDT reply actions

That is what it is

mis timed jumps

Kemp has simply not made one tough play this year.

He did make one diving catch coming in in RCF that I saw, but yeah, a lot of tough misses.

by David Young on Apr 22, 2010 6:28 PM PDT up reply actions

Dewitt's defense is really costing the Dodgers

I would say Kemp’s too but that wasn’t an easy play, though he should have let Johnson get that damn ball.

Fuck.

by Ivdown on Apr 22, 2010 6:20 PM PDT reply actions

I don’t think Johnson would have had an easier time at it.

by Eric Stephen on Apr 22, 2010 6:21 PM PDT up reply actions

I think Johnson would have had an easier time going to his left to get it rather than Kemp going to his right to get it. The ball didn’t bounce of the wall did it? There didn’t seem like any reason to jump…

I find myself missing the Dodgers that could barely hit but could pitch and play really nice defense.

by Ivdown on Apr 22, 2010 6:23 PM PDT up reply actions

It just means the Dodgers’ 2 runs next half inning only give them a one run lead

by Eric Stephen on Apr 22, 2010 6:20 PM PDT reply actions

What the hell happen?!

by NotJoeTorre on Apr 22, 2010 6:20 PM PDT reply actions

this is why Kemps UZR is so awful so far. Its not an easy play, but he needs to make it. Hes had a few of those this year.

by UCLADodger32 on Apr 22, 2010 6:20 PM PDT reply actions

UZR is meaningless in a 15 game sample. Too much noise

by fritts on Apr 22, 2010 6:23 PM PDT up reply actions

And I doubt the out conversion rate in that zone of the field is high or CFs

by fritts on Apr 22, 2010 6:24 PM PDT up reply actions

Obviously, but hes been nothing short of awful out there. He needs to make that play.

by UCLADodger32 on Apr 22, 2010 6:25 PM PDT up reply actions

Our Defense

continues to struggle. When is it enough to make a switch at 2nd?

by keithc13 on Apr 22, 2010 6:20 PM PDT reply actions

it's never enough

DeWitt just has the “look” of a ballplayer according to Torre.

by ishXdavid on Apr 22, 2010 6:22 PM PDT up reply actions

weren't we all complaining a month ago

that Torre was not giving the job to DeWitt quickly enough? Now we’re complaining that Torre is not taking the job away from him quickly enough?

Hoooray!

Awful bullpen continues to be awful.

by Ivdown on Apr 22, 2010 6:21 PM PDT reply actions

Are you trying to make comments that have nothing to do with the situation all week?

by Eric Stephen on Apr 22, 2010 6:22 PM PDT up reply actions

DeWitt’s throw didn’t have anything to do with being a 2B…it was just a bad throw.

by Eric Stephen on Apr 22, 2010 6:22 PM PDT up reply actions

He’s making throws like a 3rd baseman would.

But you’re right. Blake DeWitt kinda sucks on defense.

by Tripon on Apr 22, 2010 6:23 PM PDT up reply actions

Ok, did you not see the great play DeWitt made to start the inning. That wasn’t a routine throw. There was a runner in the way and Loney wasn’t in the best position. DeWitt has struggled some, but so has EVERY other regular starter and most of the backups.

by CTBMikeD on Apr 22, 2010 7:29 PM PDT up reply actions

I’m waiting to see how this is also somehow Brett Tomko’s fault, too.

by Eric Stephen on Apr 22, 2010 6:23 PM PDT up reply actions

He’s pretty much a one-pitch pitcher (He throws the heater 85.3% of the time), but with a bowling-ball fastball that sits around 95 mph, that’s pretty much all he needs.

-Marc Hulet

Well, welcome aboard Kuo and Belisario

by Eric Stephen on Apr 22, 2010 6:23 PM PDT reply actions

another game thrown away and made much tougher than it needs to be because of the defense. Padilla, DeWitt, Kemp all making poor plays that lead directly to runs. DeWitts was the easiest play to make and he really needed to make that throw.

by UCLADodger32 on Apr 22, 2010 6:23 PM PDT reply actions

Amazing

6 runs could’ve been prevented with just making the play.

Since the Dodgers have currently score 28, they should try to see if they can score 32 in this series.

Manny's calf "strain"

I’ve torn my calf before and I couldn’t walk normally for 2 1/2 months. So this could be a problem.

by keithc13 on Apr 22, 2010 6:39 PM PDT reply actions

Clausen’s best shot of still getting drafted in the first round is Arizona at 26 and the Vikings at 30

by Tripon on Apr 22, 2010 6:40 PM PDT up reply actions

Also, on the NFL draft.

For all the talk about baseball being a dying sport, its still gets to have 50 rounds for their draft. NFL only has 7.

by Tripon on Apr 22, 2010 6:39 PM PDT reply actions

Because of 1) farm systems and 2) non-binding drafts allow people to get drafted multiple times.

by Michael White on Apr 22, 2010 6:40 PM PDT up reply actions

That’s because the NFL doesn’t invest in their own farm system. For all of the flaws of college football, its basically allows pro football to gage the relative talents of players without investing in them until years later.
