The Game Was This Close
I wanted to write another post about today's game because I thought the picture above was cool. It's not quite Jackie Robinson and Yogi Berra from Game 1 of the 1955 World Series, but the photo shows just how close the Nationals came to tying the game in the bottom of the 13th inning. Russell Martin did a nice job blocking the plate, keeping fellow backstop Ivan Rodriguez from touching the plate before Martin applied the tag.
Today's game had many opportunities to turn sour for the Dodgers, like so many other games have done in the season's first three weeks. But it didn't.
For more pictures from today's game, check out today's Dodgers.com photo gallery.

I was hoping..
you’d start your new post about Billingsly, so that I could say, "someone buy him a copy of “The War of Art” by Steven Pressfield. TWoA has been a kick in the butt to me, and a big help in breaking through the blocks and winning my inner creative battles. As the author says, “creative work is…a gift to the world and every being in it. Don’t cheat us of your contribution. Give us what you’ve got!”
Unfortunately for the Dodgers, Billingsly hasn’t yet given ‘em what he’s got…
Very cool pic indeed
The Nats left many runners in scoring position. The pen finally looked like they control of the game. Kershaw was good today, 6k/3bb. That greedy triple that got shut down saved our butts. I’m aboard the Billz train, but he can’t keep having the same kind of outings he’s had. I really hope he can turn it around tomorrow. If the Dodgers want to reclaim the NL West throne, Billz has got to get going. I have a strong feeling it’s begining to turn around.finish the Nats and go to work against the Mets. I’m glad to see Kuroda will pitch at the TBLA game May 1. A pitcher for Pitt took a comebacker to the skull. He’s ok, but it brought back memories of Kuroda last year. Let’s go get’em tomorrow.

This does not sound good
regarding Padilla.
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Josh Towers is pitching well at Albuquerque, Josh Lindblom not so much, but both would require opening a 40-man roster spot.
WTF is Gurnick smoking??
Hasn’t Towers been pitching well in ABQ? Not that it should be a basis for a decision, but the statement is true, is it not?

At the end of the last thread, Tripon quotes Tony Jackson saying, “Torre won’t say that Chad Billingsley’s (1-0, 7.07) start against the Nationals on Sunday is critical to the right-hander’s keeping his spot in the rotation, but it is getting increasingly difficult to believe that the Dodgers will stick with Billingsley much longer if he doesn’t find some level of consistency.”
With Padilla out, is this true? Would the Dodgers really try to replace two spots in the starting rotation at the same time?

Wrong URL
That’s an odd-looking URL – no trueblue in it. It leads to to a 503 SBN error apology, not a post. On the other hand, you do have a new post up here:

No problems there. That’s what people should click.
My link works…the site has been down intermittently for the better part of an hour
