Dodgers / Mets Game 2 Chat Part II

The Dodgers actually scored three runs!  The game is tied 3-3 at the end of four innings.  James Loney was ejected after taking a questionable called strikeout to end the third inning with the bases loaded.  Casey Blake entered the game to play 3B and Ronnie Belliard moved to 1B.

I’m don’t complain about umpires strike zone when MLB doesn’t care to enforce its own rules.

Really, the ump creates his own strike zone, and will change it according to what he believes it is.

Have I previously mentioned how much I despise walks???? The entire Dodger pitching staff (with the exception of Broxton right now) thinks they’re a bunch of Greg Maddux’s who can paint a f’ing corner. They cannot. Throw strikes, damnit! Challenge a hitter!. Let the D at least try to make a play.

This is my pet peave w/the team right now and I’m sorry but it all falls on Honeycutt. He needs to tell his guys to throw strikes, but that is clearly not in his makeup.

They won't win

but with the Spurs on the verge of beating the Mavs and the Jazz possibly beating the Nuggets, the OKC series could possibly be the toughest series for the Lakers. The Jazz and Spurs style of play is just what the Zen Dr. ordered. They will kill the Jazz and Spurs, IMO. I hope the Thunder don’t get embarrased tonight. Need a quality effort from the front line to have a chance…..oh and 40 from Durant and 25 and 15 from Westbrook. :)

by matthewmafa on Apr 27, 2010 6:57 PM PDT up reply actions

Haeger’s “fastball” shouldn’t even be called a fastball.

elys command wasnt too good in AAA this year..

i just cant wait for tomorrow to see what he throws to the mets..

by matthewmafa on Apr 27, 2010 7:01 PM PDT up reply actions

He just pitched into the 7th inning less than a week ago without issuing a walk.

Believe me, you’ll see better fastballs tomorrow than 87 mph. Ely will be fired up. I guarantee that.

by silverwidow on Apr 27, 2010 7:02 PM PDT up reply actions

That sounds alot like the last of Jason Schmidt

by 68elcamino427 on Apr 27, 2010 7:00 PM PDT up reply actions

Ely’s projected to be a 5th starter, Heager is a 5th starter currently.

It’d be one thing if McDonald or Elbert was being discussed. But this is Ely here. A guy who probably can’t throw above 90 with his fastball, he’s a right handed Stults in terms of stuff.

Really, I might like Ely when I actually see him pitch, but knocking Heager down because the Dodgers decided to pitch him on short rest is misguided.

by Tripon on Apr 27, 2010 6:58 PM PDT up reply actions

I’m not knocking Haeger solely based on this start. His body of work this year outside of the Florida start has been really bad.

by silverwidow on Apr 27, 2010 7:00 PM PDT up reply actions

I would not classify his last previous start as really bad.

He made one bad pitch to Dunn.

all the while dream’in of LA … in New York
the young feller in the ‘58 pick up let them ride in the back

that darned yeller dog got too fiesty at the stop sign
trusty rusty shotgun made short work of that puppy
I took off from work just to go to this game

Link is in the damn clubhouse with the team!!!!

Why can’t they just say that? They can add “it’s not official yet” or some shit like that, but they are not doing anything to inform the fans at all.

Strengh:

Offense espacially the OF…
A healthy Furcal…
The sleeper called Monk…
Kuo, Belisario and Broxton…
Good Bench…
