Good hitting and then baserunning by BDW
I’m liking all the reaching of 2nd base in this inning!
Knocked Volstad right outta there.

Excellent
Pitched a great game. Made one mistake on a flat slider that was an RBI base hit. Otherwise was great.

Runner reached on an error
Rudimentary creatures of flesh and blood, you touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding.
Martin could also redeem himself here

which seems fine
but shouldn’t they wait until the BOTTOM of the inning? Is Carroll any faster than DeWitt, or does Torre just want to keep DeWitt away from second as much as possible?
Blake and Dewitt
It’s scary that Blake and DeWitt seem to be the most dependable part of the offense, but the rest should come around. Dewitt is young—what 24. Oh Joe, I hate to see you take the regulars out to get your boys like Carroll in. Hope it doesn’t bite you.
Hard to judge the dependables after 4 games
Manny, Kemp Loney and Ethier (when healthy) will all hit this year.

“I hope other pitchers are watching what Kuroda has done”
Ya, that’ll help Steve. Watch Kuroda and then think to yourself, hey I’d like to do that too. As if guys don’t know that its a good thing to pitch well.
I hope Reed proves both of you, as well as the pitcher, wrong right here
as I’m sure you do as well! :)
I’m not bagging on Johnson. Ethier just happens to be one of the best hitters in baseball

And that's a good thing
Though an Ethier hit would have been more satisfying than a Marlin error.
Seriously, where balls go to die

Well, he did pitch until he was 64. And that was 17 years ago!

he's hit a few of this this early season
so has Martin. Things looking up. What a difference a half inning makes.
No injury to DeWitt, Torre just running in Carroll for whatever reason?

Best pitched game of the young season for LA
regardless of what he does from here on out. Didn’t he have another great game here a year or 2 ago?

One of three straight starting pitchers
for LA who deserved to start game #1 more than Padilla, and Kuroda would’ve been my pick. (Hey I was on record as saying that!)

6.0 IP, 2 H’s, 0 R’s, 5 BB’s, 10 K’s
I think that will be it for him. 96 pitches
Elbert struck out Justin Smoak in two of the three times he faced him. Smoak popped out the other time.

Blake Smith
2 more doubles and a walk, 7 for 10 thus far with no strike outs. His BABIP is less than his batting average.
How much do you want to bet that the one of the first 10 words he says describling
Kuroda’s performance is:
comfortable.

6-1 LAN Score
Nobody has that score. It is score #33, and there are people that have 31 and 35 which would give them each one point. Let’s see.
vr, Xei
Wait, wait. They Brought in the LOOGY for Loney, but leave him in for Manny?
Talk about giving the middle finger to Manny.
im pretty sure they dont care anymore
and just want to get out of inning

Predict which score hits
ie – 36th most likely score or w/e
Then if it hits you get 36 points. If nobody hits it, then closest to the score number wins one point. There is a Fanpost everyday for it.

i’ll take it :).

Extra Innings hasn’t has the Dodger’s feed once yet this year, so I am missing all these goofs by Collins.
Ramon Ortiz should be ready to be released then. If they didn't trust him to pitch in this inning, they're done with him.
Irrational
but going to the Rose Garden in Portland is never good.
So, either of the others would be fine.
Need homecourt over Orlando
I don’t think we’ll make the Finals, but just in case.
Is Russ Ortiz pitching the ninth the baseball equivalent of garbage time?
The commenter formerly known as El Lay Dave.
Welcome the newbie...
I finally get posting privilege. Ortiz was kind enough to extend the game long enough for me to get in here. Hey, folks.
Broxton coming in.
Ortiz going home.
This is not a save situation.
Should have just given up a grand slam
Let Ortiz eat it on the box score and then Brox can relax with the bases clear
Marlins putting on a show
For all 2 dozen fans…should have given the tickets away at this rate. Would have made it up with beer sales…
Mini streak!
If that gets Russ Ortiz DFA’d.
It was worth it.
Joe Torre to Ortiz
Pack your stuff kid, you’ll be doing your own laundry from now on and you better figure out how to spell Albuquerque
*exhale*
even BETTER that Russ Ortiz fail- I have nothing against the man personally, I wish him well in life. But he has no fucking business being in that bullpen.
Nowhere. He’s holographic software called FoxAnnouncer. Sometimes the software glitches.

OK, now that everyone is in a better mood with the win
I saw all the wailing and gnashing of teeth in the comments, but on the fly ball down the right field line that fell for an error, can someone who actually saw the play explain to me how it is that with all three players converging, it isn’t the RF that should be calling everyone off? Did Johnson just not have a play? Or did he get gun shy after the near-collision with The Bison yesterday.
The commenter formerly known as El Lay Dave.
johnson may have been towards right center. It seemed he was the least likely of the 3 to make the play but DeWitt called it pretty early and both just let up.
I made similar comment on DT and someone wondered how I would know what Reed Johnson
should be thinking. My point was he was the one who should call for that and yes he had a chance at it. DeWitt had a more awkward path to the ball that took him all the way over to foul territory and then drifting backwards into fair ground to try to catch. Johnson is the veteran and the RF and should call off the rookie 2nd baseman imho. And yes it was also a communication problem.

Sad but true
The Marlins, perennially last in the NL in attendance, drew their largest crowd for a home opener in five years. When asked before the game about playing in front of a big crowd at home, Hanley Ramirez smiled.
“It only happens once every year,” he said.
