What if we don’t want Ned in LA, can we figure that out too?

The column is actually fairly pointless, but Simers actually makes a couple cogent points.
but here [Colletti] was outraged and disgusted with the team he built — pouncing on Matt Kemp, I guess, before anyone got around to asking who hired the team’s pitchers.
He was tougher on Kemp, who plays both left field and center when Manny Ramirez is in the lineup, than I had read. However, to me the quote of interest is this one from Colletti to Simers (emphasis mine):
“When we started this season we needed to get off to a good start, play strong fundamentally, stay in it and hope to find some pitching halfway through the year or have one of our young guys mature and fill the gap.”Maybe I’m nitpicking, but is it a sound plan to count on a strong start? To count on playing “strong fundamentally” with a team that is starting a raw 2B, Manny in LF, and whose backup up left-side of the IF is Jamey Carroll and Ronnie Belliard? Isn’t the plan supposed to be that the young pitchers (Billingsley and Kershaw must be whom he is talking about), and the contingency plan to “hope to find some pitching halfway through”, if the risk is realized that the pitching doesn’t mature or other problems arise – like Padilla’s arm already has.
