I hate traffic :( everyone wants a Dre bobblehead

by Dodgermanramon on May 18, 2010 7:09 PM PDT via mobile reply actions

That traffic was absolute shit. I got lost off the 5 going North at 7th street. You can’t get back on the 5 from 7th street going north, so i drove around for 30 minutes on a wild goose chase following signs that pointed me in wrong directions…I was 10 miles away at 5:20 from Dodger Stadium…I didn’t get in the frigging park until 7:50.

I left Mission Hills at 5:15 and was in DS, in my seat with Dodger Dog and beer in hand by 6:05

Of course that is coming in from an entirely different direction…..

on the one year anniversary of the Mets literally throwing the game away against the Dodgers

they do the same thing with the Atlanta Braves. Over at Amazin’ Avenue, David Wright had what they say “may have been the worst game of his career”. Well, at least it only may have been the worst!

What happened

Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen

by Phil Gurnee on May 18, 2010 7:10 PM PDT up reply actions

he went 0 for 4 with three K's

including leaving a runner on 3rd w/1 out in the 9th. In the bottom of the inning, there was 1st & 2nd no one out, and it looks like Cabrera got aboard on an infield single, which Wright subsequently threw away, allowing the winning run to score.

(recap isn’t up yet)

np

We were discussing the other night who we’d accept in a (hopefully) hypothetical trade involving Matt Kemp. One of the guys whose name came up was David Wright. I said he wasn’t the same player since getting hit in the head, sadly. At this rate, I might not trade Loney for him! Nothing against Loney, of course- just saying Wright’s days as a member of the elite may be over. A .262 BA & a pace of 220 K’s for a lifetime .307 hitter (INCLUDING the down numbers). That sounds like it may be a lot more than a garden-variety slump.

by sarcastro9 on May 18, 2010 7:19 PM PDT up reply actions

Why would you want to trade Kemp?

by Rampage Rob on May 18, 2010 7:20 PM PDT up reply actions

Wouldn't

but we were just spitballing on what it would take.

Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen

by Phil Gurnee on May 18, 2010 7:21 PM PDT up reply actions

it was just a hypothetical discussion brought on

a) by Tony Jackson’s bizarre take down of Kemp and, b) by the Dodgers performance lately, as we were probably just running out of things to complain about :)

fair enough, but do you think you will be getting good value for him? Also, do you think he has the ability to be a better over all hitter that can cut down the strikes?

by Rampage Rob on May 18, 2010 7:22 PM PDT up reply actions

I'm talking about Wright not Kemp

Wright is on a pace to strike out over 200 times

Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen

by Phil Gurnee on May 18, 2010 7:25 PM PDT up reply actions

Wright is still completely nasty with a .900 OPS career (and this year, at least 4 days ago) from 3B with at least average 3B defense. Kemp for Wright is a win for the Dodgers, and Kemp is my favorite Dodger.

I feel your pain. MLB TV has been bullshit yesterday and today. When it’s good it’s good. When it’s bad it’s bad. But hey think of it this way, there are just so many Dodger fans in San Francisco we are using too much bandwidth.

Hehe, that must be it!

Works better than thinking that MLBTV just sucks. ;-)

Or maybe Giants fans are sabotaging it realizing they’re about to fall into 3rd place.

Dude I called it on Mother’s day that the Dodgers will be in second place in two weeks. They all laughed at me. Giants fans don’t know baseball plain and simple. The ones that do keep their mouth shut.

by Rampage Rob on May 18, 2010 8:51 PM PDT up reply actions

Giants fans tend to be overly cocky but also mixed with being overly apocalyptic

and dramatic. (Of course you could say that about a lot of typical fans in general.) I know some who are knowledgable enough. But most of the ones I have met tend to be ignorant about other team’s players. I remember one diehard G fan who was a coworker who didn’t know who Russell Martin was in Russ’s 2nd full season. (Now Giants fans know him and hate him.) Anyway, after all the shit I’ve taken here I will shed no tears for them.

I like that they keep talking about their farm system. You and I know all too well the Giants are just good enough to go 500 for the year and they will never take the chance and throw away a season or two to put in these young players to see if they can play. They have nothing but pitchers. The park they play in is too big, they are too slow as a team and have no power. They suck and will forever suck.

I think the Lakers are better served having Brown start in the Place of Ron. The can not throw a pea into the ocean. His D is solid, not what is once was for sure. But they will need another player to knock down the outside shot to take the pressure off Kobe and Pau.

by Rampage Rob on May 18, 2010 9:03 PM PDT up reply actions

Pau’s not nearly as “soft” as he was. I do agree it will only go 5 and the Lakers will celebrate in Boston

by Greg Stephen on May 18, 2010 8:54 PM PDT up reply actions

OK, Kobe best player in the game I give that up without any hesitation. The Lakers on offense again the Celtics, they will shift defenders to either kobe or Pau before they get the ball, a function of Ron Ron not being able to hit an open shot. Also, the Celts can go man to man against the Lakers. They have enough size to give them problems and negate the size the Lakers have.

While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that’s free,
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer.

God Bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Through the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.
