Minor League Report May 20th - Songco hits the right notes

AAA –Isotopes lose 4 - 2 with Lucas May hitting his 3rd home run. Travis Schlichting pitched one inning of hit-less relief with two strikeouts. He's struck out five with no walks over the last four innings. DeJesus continues to suck in all aspect of hitting a baseball, going 0/4 and carrying a sterling .477 OPS in his last ten games. Must be working on a new way of swinging the bat.

AA - Jesus Castillo had been a bright spot for the Lookouts but he couldn't get past the second inning tonight as the last place Lookouts lose 6 - 4. Dee Gordon and his .315 OBP took the night off but that didn't help the offense any as his replacement also went 0 - 5. Trayvon Robinson passed Gordon and is now sporting a .311 OBP. Breakout season this is not. Scott Van Slyke had two singles but a .406 slug% for a corner outfielder is just not going to cut it. A sad sack of offensive production coming from the Lookout group.

High A Last place 66er's lose 7 - 6 behind the poor pitching of Cody White. Kyle Russell hit his ninth home run but it was his only hit in five at bats. 3rd baseman Anthony Hatch who was demoted from AA last week collected three hits. Pedro Baez must be hurt again. Travis Denker had two hits and while it seems Denker has been around forever he's only 24. Good to see Travis playing and hitting for us again.

A – 20 year old Matthew Magill continues to shine with five scoreless innings, giving up three hits, two walks, and six strikeouts.  Allen Webster did not fair as well walking four in his three innings.  Mario Songco was the offensive star of the day with two doubles and a triple. Sandman hit another home run, his league leading 14th. He also had a single and walk. Sandman now has 27 XBH in 40 games.
