Jose Lima Passes Away At Age 37
Reports are coming in that former MLB pitcher Jose Lima died early this morning at his Los Angeles home of an apparent heart attack. Enrique Rojas at ESPNdeportes.com quotes Lima's wife:
"Jose was complaining while sleeping and I just thought he was having a nightmare," Astacio told ESPNdeportes.com. "I called the paramedics, but they couldn't help him."
This is a tragic loss at far too young an age.
Jose Lima seared a place into the memories of Dodger fans with an unlikely 2004 season when he was 13-5 with a 4.07 (101 ERA+) and capped the year by twirling a 4-0 shutout against the Cardinals for the Dodgers first playoff win since the 1988 World Series.
It was Lima Time on October 9, 2004, but it is hard to believe that it was Lima's time this morning. Very, very sad news.

No but they knew him
And Weaver and Ausmus were teammates with him. Ausmus was traded from Detroit to Houston with Lima.

Very sad news but dodger fans will always remember him for the shutout
Let justice be done, though the world perish.
I was shocked when I heard this
I was at that playoff game…first dodger playoff game of my life. I’ll never forget it and Jose became a favorite of mine.
Has there ever been a player better than Detlef Schrempf?
