FullPitch.Com Interviews GM Fred Claire about how he built the 1988 World Series team.
Excellent stuff in this interview, as Fred Claire goes over how he assembled the last World Championship Dodger team. Recommended read for Dodger fans.

On what Fred was doing when Gibby hit the home run
"My wife Sheryl had left before the end of the game to beat the traffic. I can’t remember who else was there in my box because I was so zoned in. I do remember what was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had at Dodger Stadium. After Kirk hit that homerun, I walked from my box down to club level. People were going crazy, but nobody was in the aisles. Nobody had left their seat! There wasn’t anybody there. I walked back and went to my office to pick up my keys, and went to my car… and there was nobody in the parking lot! I was driving out of Dodger Stadium, and no one else was driving out! It was like a twilight zone.

Some stuff I never knew
before Gibson became a free agent they had discussions of trading Pedro for him.
But there was one discussion during the Winter Meetings that was on the forefront of every mind in the Dodgers’ front office: the possibility of trading Pedro Guerrero to the Tigers for Kirk Gibson. There were several reasons for pursuing this trade. Guerrero had injured his left knee in 1986, and despite hitting .338/.416/.539 in 1987, the Dodgers did not feel he could lead a championship club.
