MiLB Dodger Report 6/15/10 - Wall showing signs of life

AAACharlie Haeger is not doing himself any favors with his rehab starts. He had eight walks in this one and all the gains he seemed to have made last year in controlling his knuckleball have vanished. Hu had two more singles as he continues his hot June. The double play combination of Hu/DeJesus have really picked up the offensive side of the game in the last 30 days.

AA – No Game

High A – 66ers lose 9 - 5 but on the plus side, they scored five runs. When you wonder what DeJon Watson is doing with his system, guys like Ramon Jean jump to the forefront. Jean is a 22 year old outfielder who is now playing for the 66ers. Last year he was in the Arizona Rookie League. So explain to me how Jean is playing in the California League while Sands and Songco are putting the muscle move on the MidWest League. Do the Dodgers simply not care about fielding a competitive team for the fans of California? Anyway Jean is a single machine and with a name like Ramon Jean wouldn't you expect him to be a singles machine? Machine is being generous, 90% of his hits are singles but it is not like he's getting a bunch of them.

A – Josh Wall has been around a while but he's still only 23. Drafted in the 2nd round out of high school he was a gangly RHP who lost the bite on his velocity right after we drafted him. At 6'6 lack of command and dominance has been his problem, so while he climbed the ladder one league at a time he stalled out in the California League.  The only success he had was in the MidWest League in 2007, and three years later he's back. It is hard to to get very excited since he's a man among boys but he is making progress. It may mean nothing, or it may mean the tall right hander is finally starting to figure some things out. Last night he struck out 11 in seven innings of work while only walking one. All his peripherals are the best of his career. I doubt if we have anything here but maybe just maybe the light is on.  Songo clubbed his sixth home run continuing his hot June. Sands did not get a hit but walked and I'm wondering if he's had one game where he has not gotten on base via a hit or walk?
