The Drive For Five: Game 7 Open Thread
Game Sevens don't come along very often, so each one should be cherished.
It has come down to one game for all the marbles, between the two greatest franchises in the history of the NBA, and the Lakers have home court advantage.
The Kobe-Gasol Lakers are 30-4 at home in the playoffs, and have outscored their opponents 105.0-94.7 at Staples Center.

good point
I would expect Bynum to play minimum minutes tonight. But without Perkins, the interior for Boston is either really old and likes to shoot fadeaways or really fat and won’t get away with the same shit in LA he was in Boston. 7 seems fair.

I heard Baba O’Reilly on the way home from work…I had it turned way up…to 11.
Love hearing that before a game!
I’m home, and live. He can only fuck it up if he starts jinxing the lakers (“Fisher hitting his first 3 3’s”)
But I still told him to leave me alone.

That seems safe.
I’m sure he is currently scrolling thru his phone trying to figure out who had to work late so he can ruin it for them.
It's been surprisingly decent here in DE
It’s strange going through a spring and summer without thunder storms and death followed by humidity and sweat
I can't believe that flash flood
It’s one storm after another for AR lately….massive flooding a few years back, then the ice storm, then tornado and flash floods this year
Yeah
We are getting shit on weather wise right now. It is funny that it hasn’t rained in Conway for about a week. Just been smokin hot. That weather report from above isn’t right. I just went outside and it is nice right now. No way it is above 90 right now.
I'll be living in the Fayetteville area
Supposed to be a cooler part of the state. When I lived in LR it was very bad in the summer.
Yeah
it usually is 5 degrees cooler in Fayettnam than the rest of the state. The Ozarks are the contributing factor. 100 miles west or south and it is smokin.

Hope the Lakers discover they left their shot in the locker room, or this is gonna get ugly fast.

Kobe and Pau
subscribing to the “Hedake” Smith school of basketball early. Keep it under and win the game. We bet and win….we play and win! :-)
A strategy that involves
passing off to Ron Artest every time is doomed to failure. Make the easy shots, make the free throws, and get a rotation going, and things will be better for the Lakers.
They will shoot better but they need to get some other guys involved, like Shannon Brown.
And yeah, Julio, there were fouls and both Farmar and Fisher that should NOT have been called. Let them play.

There is some good news. The lakers go into the half down by 6 and this is the worst half of basketball they’ve played all series.
To my knowledge, correct me if I'm wrong

We shall have to remedy that.
I went to a game in ‘77 and ’78 (slept in a parking lot in Sears in ’78 to get my tix), game 2 of ’88, and 3 games in 2002 w/the Angels. I’m Jones’ing for another WS game at Mecca soon.
I had tix for game 1 in ’88 but gave them to a friend because of a family event. Still pissed about that.

about Sears. Tickettron in 74, same deal for me. My mom let me cut school to get the tickets. They tried to give her shit when they found out I wasn’t in school. But you didn’t go to a game?
The ‘74 Series is very special to me. I was 13, had been in love w/baseball for 4 years (since the ’69 Mets) and watched the first two games at my granddad’s house. I just expected the Dodgers to win, since the A’s were obviously past their prime. I was wrong….very wrong.

It wasn’t at the time. Early October at the Sears in the Inland Center Mall in San Bernardino. Sleeping on the sidewalk in front of the outdoor window, about 12th in line, with 3 of my buds. We were so rich we had to pool our money to buy 4 tix. But it was awesome…right field pavillion!

Congratulations to you Laker fans
I am not one of you here, but I am happy for you guys. I will sit and hope for a championship for one of my teams.
1995 Dallas Cowboys
1994 Arkansas Razorbacks
1988 Los Angeles Dodgers
They were good.
To win it all, despite having argueably the worst coach to ever win a Super Bowl. That really speaks to the talent they had that year.
It was a great game though.
One of the better games in NFL history. Back then, it was whoever won the NFC title game between the Niners and Cowboys were the Super Bowl Champs
It was never in doubt! Ha! (faints)
48-0 after a Game 1 win for Phil Jackson.
ABC
Tonight was the opposite of the Lost finale: shitty two hours, outstanding final 30 minutes.

Great season
Thanks for everything, Kobe. Take the weekend to celebrate, then have whatever 2-3 surgeries you need first thing Monday morning. :)

Was reading the poll questions on
Sportsnation.
Question 2. Who would get booed louder at Fenway?
Roger Clemens
Manny Ramirez
The PCL is a joke
AbqTopes: Isotopes score five runs in the eighth to come within one at 11-10 after trailing 11-3 at one point. Heading into the top of the ninth.
Having run around my block screaming I can now say
This one felt good. This was a bare knuckle fight to the end. This was two juggernauts slugging it out and someone had to go down. This is every cliche ever, but damn does it feel good : ) !!!!!!!!
Look at that, he hit the f*cking bull! Guy gets a free steak!
It was a tornado inside a volcano
it was 2 gladiators gladiating it out
it was a woman scorned
it was a cackling witch
KTLA and KCAL are live with aerial shots
Mosh pits have begun. Uh-ohs.
Someone pick me up a new guitar!

Kyle Russell
5 Ks tonight.
Now if you want to crown him, then crown his ass. But he is who I thought he was. :)
Since this keeps coming up

Rudimentary creatures of flesh and blood, you touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding.
Phil Jackson
“Ron Artest was our most valuable player tonight.”
Can’t argue with that.
Parade is Monday
Coverage starts at 7 a.m on Fox Sports West. But, will be on every network channel in L.A.

What a game, great job Lakers!!!!!!!
Celtics, you played tough, but it wasn’t enough. I could say a lot, but I’ll let this guy say it.

Are these the pitching matchups for this weekend...
Monk vs Doubront
Night Stalker vs Haegers idol
Kuroda vs Buckholz
That is good news for us. As good as can be expected anyway.
Kobe just admitted that beating the Celtics was "everything"

It would've been tough on him
if he would’ve lost this year. He could’ve gone on and won more if they lost this year, but to lose 2x to the Celtics would not sit well with the old guard LA fanbase. Great win for the Lakers and for Kobe.
HAHAHAHA!
“I’m just happy I have one more title than (Shaq).”
Joking of course.
Doc Rivers taking the team to Pizza Hut after the game
"Just by the aura of D.J. Mbenga being there, the shot missed."
some were attacking a taxi car too
unfortunate that this keeps happening
"Just by the aura of D.J. Mbenga being there, the shot missed."
HELL YES!!
Just caught the end of the game after my own game, and hell yes! SLoppy and crappy and tired and nervewracking and crazy and my God I’ll take it!
There's no need to fear, Underdog is here! / Broncos/Dodgers/Lakers fan in Niners/Raiders/Giants/Warriors country, and damned proud of it.
They said Sheed was trying to get into the refs locker room and then went and got on the bus in his uniform
