MiLB Dodger Preview - Welcome back Mr. Withrow

AAA –It took fourteen innings for the Isotopes to lose 3 -2. Bastardo did his best to keep the team in the game by going six innings giving up only two runs but the Isotopes simply had no offense tonight. In fourteen innings they could only manage seven hits. DeJesus did bang out a triple, and Mitchell had his fourth straight game with an extra base hit.

AA Game One -Hello Mr. Number One Prospect, no need to apologize for keeping us waiting, just glad you showed up. Withrow decided to see what it felt like to shake the hand of his catcher, pitching a complete game shutout in which he was in total control. Hard to pinpoint what was more impressive, you take your pick.

Seven Shutout Innings

Only four hits, only one of them was an XBH, a measly double

Ten Strikeouts

One Walk is however the one I liked the most.

To get WIthrow his 3rd win Trayvon Robinson banged out three hits continuing his scorching June. Last ten games 18 hits.

AA Game Two - Kenley Jansen struck out the side and picked up the win in his one inning of work. 27 K's in 16 innings now in AA. Hard to imagine his season going any better then it has. If he keeps this up I'll be shocked if he's not helping this team come Sept and pitching his way onto the the post season roster. Kyle Russel had another XBH giving him six in his first 48 at bats. Hard to believe he already has almost fifty at bats. After striking out five times on Thursday Night giving him 19 K's in 36 at bats, he's only struck out twice in his last 12. Baby steps for the big guy.

High A – Tonight was all about the top pitching prospects showing off their skills like a flaring peacock. Aaron Miller  was just as good as Withrow other then the solo home run he gave up in the sixth. In seven innings, Miller gave up only two hits, the solo home run, walking one, striking out eight. Alfredo Silverio has had about as lousy a season as any of our prospects have had, but in the last week he's starting to turn his season around. With six XBH in his last seven games he's showing the only power on the team. Today he collected a double and triple but still only has two walks for the whole season.

A –Loons lose 4 - 3 in 13 innings. Sands picked up three walks in six plate appearances. I'd had hoped that Brian Ruggiano would have done more for us to write about this year but it didn't happen. He destroyed the rookie league last but we knew that would not last once he got moved. But a small part of me hoped he would surprise us. It hasn't happened but he did hit a home run and double to provide most of the offense.
