Did I miss something with the Giants?
Seriously, what is Bochy doing to his lineup?
Torres
Sanchez
Uribe
Molina
Huff
Burrell
Posey
Sandoval
I understand Sandoval has been slumping a little over the past 30 days (.235/.280/.348), but really, 8th?!
I'll settle with him making it a perfecto instead of walking 6

Nice suit, Vin.
I like his pocket square.
They say to never hit a man with a closed fist. But it is, on occasion, hilarious.
What, was his pitch count in the 120 area?
Because one would never bring in Arizona’s bullpen if he hasn’t hit 120 yet…

I just realized that the security guard in the Coors home draft commercial is Terry Tate, Office Linebacker.

Tonight, just like last night
the camera showed Bobby Cox introducing himself to the batboy in the dugout just as the game is about to begin. Nice touch.
I read on the front page of Dodgers.com
that Blake may go to the DL. Eric, what’s the word.
Headline reads “Dodgers considering DL stint for Blake.”
I don't have any other info
The thing that worries me was this quote from Blake:
“The doctors said it could be a stress fracture or an old injury that flared up,” he said. “They don’t think it’s major. They call it a back sprain. There are still a couple of movements that bother me. Yesterday I was pretty confident I wouldn’t go on the DL. After talking to the doctors, maybe it would be smart to. This thing could linger.”
Probably won’t know anything until tomorrow or Monday.
He’s useful just hanging about there, just in case both Furcal and Carroll go down at the same time. You never know, and it doesn’t cost much.

So, does Mary Hart have like eight seats? I have seen her in the first row, or the second row in those first four seats.
Good point
I was hoping to create a new term. Much like “eff you money,” this would be “Mary Hart money”
Ohhhhh Kemp
That’s was fun.

Stands look empty-ish
There’s no good reason for that on a Saturday night. People could get there on time if they left earlier. They must know about parking by now. The canard about arriving late must be true. Thing is, it seems to be the same most places the Dodgers play. But I have a feeling it may not be so at Fenway. We’ll see next week.
by berkowit28 on Jun 5, 2010 7:23 PM PDT via mobile reply actions
Well, um
you are aware that there are many more seats at DS than at Fenway, right? And that the public transportation in Boston is leaps and bounds better than in Los Angeles. And that there are more people in Los Angeles driving around where Dodger Stadium is…then there would be people driving around Boston where Fenway is…
They say to never hit a man with a closed fist. But it is, on occasion, hilarious.
actually
since the outer portions of the reserve sections have people in them, I predict 44-46K tix sold.
I also don't think people are buying tickets to games.
That will probably change when the Dodgers take first place.

That will work. Much like a layup, that groundball single just could be a harbinger of a future hot streak. (Or not)

Though I hope they brought the Oxygen tank for Manny if he gets a triple
That would have scored Furcal

I was thinking since Loney is normally better on the road could the Dodgers have him wear a road uni even when at home just so he would think that they are still on the road and then he would hit better?
he must hate the think blue sign
or the trader joes logo.
They say to never hit a man with a closed fist. But it is, on occasion, hilarious.
I think it's the hotel robes that he likes
Very relaxing, needs to steal some for home stands though
Hanson threw 6 curveballs in the first
only 1, the 5th pitch to Loney, was close. That bodes well for us if he becomes a 2 pitch pitcher
Isn't there a phrase they coined after the Dodgers and Cardinals NLDS?
Something like “mustaches get you to the offseason, beards help you win” ?
But everyone knows about DS traffic
They could just leave home earlier. That may not be possible on a weekday. But very possible on a Saturday if you care enough. That was my point.
by berkowit28 on Jun 5, 2010 7:34 PM PDT via mobile reply actions
Its tough
I always get there for the first pitch by the skin of my chinny chin chin, yet I always seem to leave early so I can get there earlier.

I would like a detailed explanation as to how this is all Torre's fault?
Show your work. ;-)
Sometimes pitchers fail.

This inning is not Torre's fault.
But Torre doesn’t have a great history managing middle relievers, and not that Troncoso has entered Scott Proctor/Cory Wade territory yet, but there’s definitely been a regression.
But the problem with that analysis
Is that by their nature, middle relievers are notoriously unpredictable
I will agree with this
but he is stuck here. Kuo pitched last night so obviously he wants to save Belisario for the 8th. Someone has to pitch. Miller has thrown a lot in the last couple of days, Weavers got a blister. Had to throw someone.
As much as the pitching has failed this inning, this is all on the offense. Seven hits, a walk, and a HBP in the first three innings, and two runs to show for it. That is fail.
The Ultimate Ned's Kind of Guy
The lack of offense is Torre's fault too! And Canada's!

I have no problem
blaming those Canucks.
Also, as a Brandeis graduate, I blame the Jews. We are always at fault for something or other.

Bullpen Fail tonight...oh well...
The only guys in the pen that you can for sure count on are Broxton and Kuo.
The other guys are the mercy of BABIP.
How long before Torre changes the batting order?
This lineup has been full of fail… Golden God should be at #2 not Kemp…

Troncoson 2010 Inherited runners/ inherited runners scored
2010: 18/9 50% scored
2009: 32/5 16%
2008: 19/8 42 %
Serious Bullpen Fail tonight
I’m watching State of Play on TV now. Night all! (Maybe I’ll bring them luck by leaving.)

Will do. I can already tell this won't be as good as
the terrific original British mini series, but good enough on its own.

I knew I should have added that note about the bullpen pitching 18 1/3 straight scoreless innings this week.
I had to turn the sound off

Kemp should get away from Rihanna while he can...
That chic is weird.
Her new music videos are crazy.
Like she turned into some goth emo woman.

We might score 7 because of it…

A little suprise Joe let him come out.
He’s been a little more mindful of the starter pitchers this year.
So you’re argument now consists of wishing Torre brought in two pitchers who sucked way worse than Chad tonight?
by Eric Stephen on Jun 5, 2010 10:03 PM PDT up reply actions
That is garbage.
How many pitches should they throw? 90? If that is so, you need to update your plan posted above. He is like 25. If he can’t throw 110 pitches, we have bigger issues than that.
Is it?
I mean, other than the arbitrary 100 number is there a set number of pitches that is the clear point of removal?
Billingsley was cruising, hadn’t thrown too many pitches under stress, and was facing the bottom three of the lineup.
by Eric Stephen on Jun 5, 2010 10:17 PM PDT up reply actions
In 12 games
Billingsley has exceeded 110 three times.
I jump on my wife with a 2-0 lead

If Kemp & Ethier don't want those
Maybe Orlando Hudson will come back and start chasing them down.
People don't think it be like this, but it do.
Or maybe he gets benched for Belliard…

Well, Sherrill is due back Tuesday. It’s either Haeger DFA, Miller DFA, or Troncoso DL

I don't see what the Dodgers see in Haeger
I’m not trying to be the guy that bitches about everything. I usually keep a pretty positive lookout. But Haeger is not very good. I personally think he has no business pitching in the majors. I will support anyone we have, but he makes it hard
almost as much as Scully hates beach balls

Well that sucked.
Bills was awesome for six innings (I kept saying “ACE ACE ACE” out loud after every K) but then shit hit the fan. I don’t know what his pitch count was, but I don’t think he should’ve been pulled just yet.
This implies that you are home before the game ends.

110 ish pitches 3 hits to start the 7th
If he hadn’t pulled him and the same thing happened people would clamor for Torre’s head. Blame it on the bullpen being terrible tonight and the offense not getting runners home. But yeah if it had stopped at 6 that would’ve been best for all :-)

I am honored to be put in the same class as Mary Hart. But I just can’t see my self on the “My Town” package for some reason. :)

Read that Blake might be DL’ed. Wouldn’t be surprised if they purchase Nick Green again. There’s an opening already.
Yeah
That seems the likely move. I wonder if that played into Green’s decision to accept the minor league assignment today. I would think so.

Kemp batting #2 over Martin
was the least of the Dodgers’ problems in this game.

And what I’m saying is, Kemp batting #2 instead of Russell Martin in this game had little, if anything, to do with that. Kemp went 1 for 5 with a triple, and scored. Martin went 1 for 4.
