Did I miss something with the Giants?

Seriously, what is Bochy doing to his lineup?

Torres
Sanchez
Uribe
Molina
Huff
Burrell
Posey
Sandoval

I understand Sandoval has been slumping a little over the past 30 days (.235/.280/.348), but really, 8th?!

I read on the front page of Dodgers.com

that Blake may go to the DL. Eric, what’s the word.

Headline reads “Dodgers considering DL stint for Blake.”

by keithc13 on Jun 5, 2010 7:11 PM PDT reply actions

I don't have any other info

The thing that worries me was this quote from Blake:

“The doctors said it could be a stress fracture or an old injury that flared up,” he said. “They don’t think it’s major. They call it a back sprain. There are still a couple of movements that bother me. Yesterday I was pretty confident I wouldn’t go on the DL. After talking to the doctors, maybe it would be smart to. This thing could linger.”

Probably won’t know anything until tomorrow or Monday.

Stands look empty-ish

There’s no good reason for that on a Saturday night. People could get there on time if they left earlier. They must know about parking by now. The canard about arriving late must be true. Thing is, it seems to be the same most places the Dodgers play. But I have a feeling it may not be so at Fenway. We’ll see next week.

by berkowit28 on Jun 5, 2010 7:23 PM PDT via mobile reply actions

Well, um

you are aware that there are many more seats at DS than at Fenway, right? And that the public transportation in Boston is leaps and bounds better than in Los Angeles. And that there are more people in Los Angeles driving around where Dodger Stadium is…then there would be people driving around Boston where Fenway is…

Yah. Damned whatever he did this inning

Bringing Troncoso in to st art the inning obviously wouldn’t have ended well, either. When would be the right time exactly? Blame this on Bills tiring, a fluke hit that dropped in, and then Troncoso pitching terribly. But blame the manager, or Canada, if it makes you feel better ;-)

by underdog on Jun 5, 2010 9:37 PM PDT reply actions

This inning is not Torre's fault.

But Torre doesn’t have a great history managing middle relievers, and not that Troncoso has entered Scott Proctor/Cory Wade territory yet, but there’s definitely been a regression.

by dsm9412 on Jun 5, 2010 9:40 PM PDT up reply actions

But the problem with that analysis

Is that by their nature, middle relievers are notoriously unpredictable

by bhsportsguy on Jun 5, 2010 9:41 PM PDT up reply actions

I disagree

Troncoso was an above-average, reliable pitcher.

by dsm9412 on Jun 5, 2010 9:44 PM PDT up reply actions

I will agree with this

but he is stuck here. Kuo pitched last night so obviously he wants to save Belisario for the 8th. Someone has to pitch. Miller has thrown a lot in the last couple of days, Weavers got a blister. Had to throw someone.

by keithc13 on Jun 5, 2010 9:42 PM PDT up reply actions

As much as the pitching has failed this inning, this is all on the offense. Seven hits, a walk, and a HBP in the first three innings, and two runs to show for it. That is fail.
