Nate

If you see this, give me your top 3 in order of preference. Mine:

1. Justin O’Conner
2. AJ Cole
3. Stetson Allie

Judging from his recent hype, there’s no way O’Conner will be there at 28. I actually really like him as a SP. Callis tweeted that his arm is incredible. Cole is a likely tough sign but we can’t pass on his talent/projection. Allie has command and possible conditioning issues but you can’t ignore the plus-plus velocity w/power slider.

Chances are we’ll get someone completely off-the-radar.

Ely has been fairly lucky today. Definitely his most lackluster start since the Detroit game.

by silverwidow on Jun 6, 2010 2:13 PM PDT reply actions

Its also a little harder for him because the zone is tight. Ump has been consistent, but someone with ely’s stuff greatly benefits from an expanded zone.

Bound to happen

It just sucks that we face a guy that has been as good as Hudson has been. He has been on fire this year. And we get him on a Sunday, which means Joe will play every body but the best 9. I know guys need a rest….. It is just frustrating that Manny needs 3 days off per week. I know that isn’t true Eric. Don’t shoot me! :)

I agree about Manny

I don’t think he needs to take every single day game after a night game off, as has been the case so far (except for the one time he played the day after he was activated from the DL)

The Dodgers need to draft a hitter in the first round

I’m really tired of the lack of hitting for the most part from this team. Shit.

A position player in the minors

by vadodger on Jun 6, 2010 3:51 PM PDT up reply actions

A hitter we drafted in the first round? I don’t quite know what you are asking. Most likely a pitcher will be drafted in the first round again, and I think it’s about time some focus in the early rounds is spent on a power hitting position player.

"You're the only woman to ever love me." "I never loved you." "I meant physically!"

by Ivdown on Jun 6, 2010 3:51 PM PDT up reply actions

The #1 player in the draft

is Bryce Harper. He is a “can’t miss” prospect and even he is not expected to help the Nationals for 4 – 5 years. Position players drafted this year will not help the team for a long time even if they do pan out.

by Greg Stephen on Jun 6, 2010 3:53 PM PDT up reply actions

Harper will see the majors at 19, just like Upton.

by silverwidow on Jun 6, 2010 3:54 PM PDT up reply actions

I wasn’t asking for someone who could be brought up in July this year after just being drafted. If there is no effort made to get hitters in the draft now, the future will look just like this.

"You're the only woman to ever love me." "I never loved you." "I meant physically!"

by Ivdown on Jun 6, 2010 3:54 PM PDT up reply actions

3 starters

are watching today and we have 9 hits. Not too bad

by keithc13 on Jun 6, 2010 3:51 PM PDT up reply actions

How much power? That’s what this team has always lacked, and besides the outfield, this team’s got almost none. I’m not asking for a team full of Adam Dunns, but wouldn’t it be nice to have more than a couple guys who can knock the ball out of the yard?

"You're the only woman to ever love me." "I never loved you." "I meant physically!"

by Ivdown on Jun 6, 2010 3:53 PM PDT up reply actions

I would definitely take a team full of Adam Dunns

Because I don’t a damn if someone strikes out a lot if they can still produce like crazy on offense. His defense worries me much more than his strike outs.

"You're the only woman to ever love me." "I never loved you." "I meant physically!"

by Ivdown on Jun 6, 2010 3:55 PM PDT up reply actions

Lol, i just told you his defense worries me more than his strike outs

Defense does matter, but defense is not AS important as offense is, IMO. The reason Loney has been able to stick around without any real power is because he’s a hell of a fielder. If he couldn’t field he would have been gone over a year ago.

"You're the only woman to ever love me." "I never loved you." "I meant physically!"

by Ivdown on Jun 6, 2010 4:02 PM PDT up reply actions

ive been wondering. when manny leaves. i think were gonna need a power hitter to fill in somewhere. whether its fielder or gonzalez at 1st or a left fielder.

by DannyDodger on Jun 6, 2010 3:55 PM PDT up reply actions

No way would i trade for fielder, 1 his agent his Boras and he will be a FA in two years, 2 his body type is much more suited to becoming a DH than a 1b in the NL

by vadodger on Jun 6, 2010 3:56 PM PDT up reply actions

I just don’t think that is going to be possible. Money is a huge issue, so I think we are going to have to hope Loney EVER gets his power stroke, and stick Paul in LF probably.

"You're the only woman to ever love me." "I never loved you." "I meant physically!"

by Ivdown on Jun 6, 2010 3:57 PM PDT up reply actions

I get that

but guys that hit the ball out of the park cost money. We are playing a catcher that has no business being here and wouldn’t be if Ausmus wasn’t 67 yrs old. Blake is hurt and Manny is off. I don’t get what we could’ve done different today.

by keithc13 on Jun 6, 2010 3:56 PM PDT up reply actions

With how the Dodgers have drafted there is nothing differently they could have done. That’s hard to say because we wouldn’t have Bills and Kershaw if we had gone for hitters instead, but it would just be nice to see a hitter drafted in the first round this year, one with some power potential and who could hit for a good average, none of this Preston Mattingley shit.
