So many good players left. Hope they don’t shy away from one of the good ones due to money worries…

Andy Seiler had this to say on O'Conner
Justin O’Conner is a promising catcher and shortstop from Cowan High School in Muncie, Indiana. O’Conner is one of those rare cold-weather position players who really grab the attention of scouts due to a few standout tools. Despite not starting his season until late in the spring, all he’s done is confirm to scouts that he has first round talent, even if the lack of refinement leaves something to be desired. A new catcher, he’s been a shortstop for most of his prep career, only switching over the offseason. That switch prompted plenty of attention, as he’s gone from middle infielder that might need to play third base to middle infielder that has catching potential. His tools all scream first round potential and first division starting catcher, so it’s only a matter of working through the kinks and refining the big-time tools. At the plate, he flashes plenty of promise, and even though he’s an average hitter, he has above average to plus raw power that really plays with wood bats, as he showed on the showcase circuit last summer. He’s an average runner, too, which only boosts his stock as an athletic catcher. Behind the plate, his best tool is a plus-plus arm, and while he’s a few years behind in receiving, he’s shown good aptitude and a willingness to learn this spring. He’s pitched in the past, and even though his fallback to catching is likely third base, he could also become a late-inning reliever, pumping in 95 mph fastballs and a plus curveball. However, he’s likely to go in the first round to a team that wants a signable catcher with big upside

Andy Seiler on Allie
Stetson Allie is probably one of the more well-known players in this draft class, and he profiles as a true first round arm but without first round control. What makes it interesting is that Allie can put a charge into a ball with his bat, too. On the mound, he features a plus-plus fastball that routinely sits in the mid-90s and has touched triple digits a few times. It’s truly a special pitch, and even though it isn’t known for any amount of movement, it’s still unhittable to the vast majority of hitters he’s ever faced. Combined with a plus high-80s to low-90s slider, Allie can simply be unhittable at times. He has not had much use for a changeup yet, and there’s no rush for it either because he can develop as a closer in a fairly short amount of time. His command is never even going to be average, but his delivery is fluid and easy, and there aren’t a lot of concerns for injury. At the plate, he features plus raw power, but he has a much higher bust rate there. He’s a below-average runner, and his fielding is currently rated as fringe-average.

I expect Allie to be taken in the middle of the first round by a team looking for the kind of raw arm that can impact a game in the ninth inning, though he could fall into the supplemental first round. Starting is likely not in his future, though a few teams believe it is. His North Carolina commitment may cost $2 million or more, as he’ll be a draft-eligible sophomore in 2012 if he follows up on his commitment.

Andy Seiler on Vettleson
Drew Vettleson is a solid high school outfielder from Central Kitsap High School in Silverdale, Washington, which is just outside of Seattle. Vettleson joins forces with Bishop Blanchet’s Josh Sale to make one of the best outfield duos for offensive potential in states across the country this spring. Even more interesting is that Vettleson is actually an ambidextrous pitcher, throwing quality stuff from both the right and left side. However, he’s much more of a prospect with the bat, and has developed into one of the top corner outfielders available in this draft class. His combination of power, hitting ability, and arm strength make him a potential starting right fielder at the next level. His hit tool is above-average, and when combined with plus raw power, he’s a legitimate hitting threat. He’s quite selective at the plate, and like Sale, he’s quite an advanced hitter for his age, which is exceptional considering their geography. Vettleson is a below-average runner, though, and he’s limited to an outfield corner, where he has fringe-average range. His arm is above-average to plus, though, so he has some defensive value. All this being said, he’s an unpredictable prospect, as he’s toolsy in some areas but quite pedestrian in others. He can hit, but his value otherwise is quite up in the air. He could sneak up as high as the supplemental first round to a team that really loves his bat, but he fits better in the second or third rounds, where he should sign for something close to slot money

What Some Of You May Not Realize Is That A Player Who Has...

a scholarship to play a non-baseball sport can have his signing bonus parcelled out over four years. So if Lee wants $3 million total, that is $750,000 per year. That way the Dodgers pay LESS now than if they signed somebody who would take slot money.

I believe in Logan White.
The potential freshman QB couldn’t say anything else to the LSU Tigerbeat and waffled on the other quote from Mr Nieves

“At this point I’m leaning a lot more to toward college," Lee said. "I think the opportunity to be able to go in and possibly compete for a starting job early in football and also to be able to compete and play for the baseball team”

Time will tell. Expect the unexpected.

The Dodgers have money. The Dodgers will always have money. Event he divorce won’t change that fact. The reason the Dodgers don’t spend money is because they choose not to.

Again, the Dodgers have money. They have the money to sign Lee.
