A large number of comments express the belief or hope the Dodgers can do what it takes to get back in the thick of this pennant race. Say that's something beyond wishful thinking. And then what? It really is time to face the reality that the current version is really a low ceiling team and to think beyond this year. It's pretty easy to imagine a much better pitching staff going forward--that's where most of the talent is in the system. But, as the excellent review of minor league position players makes abundantly clear and given the players who will need to be replaced because of age or diminished productivity, there needs to be an infusion of talent. So, please, let's not be buyers but sellers the rest of the year. Don't gear up for a chance to win an extra handful of games in the dreadful NL west. Let's start to be a pretty good team next year and a much better team after that.
