The home run shouldn't have counted?

The second run. Panda tagged loney before Carroll scored, but they counted the run.

I assume Carroll delayed his run in time to get the run home before he was tagged by Sandoval.

3rd out recorded via tag at 3B, ruled after Carroll crossed the plate (even though he didn’t yet touch the plate). Dodgers steal extra run
by Eric Stephen on Jul 19, 2010 9:10 PM PDT up reply actions
Gound ball to Panda, who decided to go after Loney coming to 3rd instead of throwing over to 1st. He tags Loney, but the home plate umpire counted the run coming home, saying the tag was made after Loney was tagged. It was a bad call, but Panda made a stupid decision not to get the force.

If we're giving up an All Star with a 31 honer season under his belt and 2 years of team control left
it doesn’t matter. we get to ask for whoever we want.
Everytime you think how badly you want Frank McCourt gone, ask yourself how you would feel to have Donald Sterling instead.
I don't think that actually works that way
When the guy you are asking for has a 2.45 era in 15 starts this year.
Sure, you can ask for whoever you want. The other team still reserves the right to slam the door in your face for being stupid though.

It's just speculation...
“The one team I keep wondering about if they drop a few games back, if the Dodgers start dropping back, would they talk about Andre Ethier. He’s going to make $10-$12 million next year, the coaching staff feels with their bizarre ownership situation, they don’t want to pay Ethier and might trade him now. That would be a fascinating guy to go after.”

I'm glad we got the run
off a mistake, but shouldn’t Loney have like, had a seizure to make sure that run counts?

It’s tired when people try to bully those with an opinion like they’re in second grade. Do you think Kirk Gibson might have made a little more of an effort on that play?
Its tired
When someone says something stupid, and people point it out to them, and instead of acknowledging they might be wrong, instead cry about being bullied. This isn’t really that subjective.

The Dodgers are interested in a variety of starters and relievers, according to Yahoo’s Tim Brown. They are calling to inquire about Roy Oswalt, Ted Lilly, Dan Haren, Jake Westbrook and Fausto Carmona. At one point, when Josh Byrnes was running the D’Backs, the Dodgers were discussing a deal for Haren, but those talks are no longer active.

Thr runner at third is not forced so he can advance. But if two baserunners crossed that should be an immediate out and it would have happened before the run scored.
"A baseball game is nothing but a great slow contraption for getting you to pay attention to the cadence of a summer day."
If they throw out the batter at first on a grounder, though, it doesn’t matter if a runner at third is forced or scores first.
by DukeAndDuke on Jul 19, 2010 10:00 PM PDT up reply actions
Because on this play no runner was forced after the catch. If Ethier had let the ball drop and somehow was able to get a double play at second and first then the runner at third could have crossed the plate and be sitting in the dugout and the run wouldn’t count.

I finally found the rule/play in question
Under Section 2; Definition of Terms:
A FORCE PLAY is a play in which a runner legally loses his right to occupy a base by reason of the batter becoming a runner.
Example: Not a force out. One out. Runner on first and third. Batter flies out. Two out. Runner on third tags up and scores. Runner on first tries to retouch before throw from fielder reaches first baseman, but does not get back in time and is out. Three outs. If, in umpire’s judgment, the runner from third touched home before the ball was held at first base, the run counts.
but
Vin said the runner from 1st passed the runner from second, if that happened that out occurs imediately and the umps just missed it

I always wondered about how gameday establishes the top/bottom of the strike zone
Particularly for guys like Loney who have such varied crouches as the ball approaches the plate.
Yeah
it is spotty at best. To see a strike zone plot that is essentially the same for every batter.

He just hasnt called that pitch all game. and Posey was set up on the outside, if people buy into that.

I was going by the catcher, who had to go all the way across the zone when Wilson missed the target. They shouldn’t bail him out.

Agree with that, especially if he hasn’t called it all night.

Zone gets bigger when the pitcher is behind. Doesnt make sense, but it happens

game day is wrong my tivo had it inside
well framed by the rookie catcher but the ump should not be fooled by that

Two bad calls from the ump in a row? Or did he really swing?

I'd pitch around Ethier and face Blake if I were the Giants. But I'm not.

Maybe they did, which would be against the book — and smart.

Anyone else feeling great animosity towards that toolbag behind home plate in the beat LA shirt?

I really, really don't like Mulhawk. Don't like losing to him.

As I said... pitch around Ethier to face Blake. Unfortunately.
I really think poor Beard needs to get laser surgery.
Oh well.

I hope that helps with the aging process, as well. He’s just in the decline phase that should happen to a guy his age.

Did we ever lose five in a row last year? I know it was until August, right, that we lost three in a row …

Remember who you're playing?
