MiLB Dodger Recap 7/19/10 - Gordonlishsis

AAA – One Jamie waves hello from New Mexico as the Dodgers play the wrong Jamey in LF. Jamie Hoffman slugged a home run as part of his two hits last night leading the Isotopes to a 7 - 6 extra inning victory. Hoffman is on a tear over his last 10 games with 16 hits giving him a TSL over the last 10 games of .391/.419/.537. Other then April Hoffman has had on OBP above .380 every month. DeJesus went hit-less but did collect two walks. Lucas May struck out six times which is quite unusual considering he had struck out only four times in his previous 26 at bats. Lindblom did his job in relief of Etherton but newly demoted Jon Link was awful. Chalk it up to flight fatigue, hopefully the 26 year old won't quit as the Dodgers continue to bounce him back and forth between luxury and dust.

AA – Top infield prospect Dee Gordon put all his skills on display last night. He collected four hits, one double, one triple, walked once,  stole three bases, scored three runs, and drove in three runs. Brent Leach pitched the Lookouts to a 8 - 1 victory, going six strong innings, giving up only one run. Jansen pitched the ninth and while he struck out the side, he also walked two batters. The Jansen watch will continue as the Dodgers continue to trot out middle relief pitchers that Dodger fans can only close their eyes and cross their fingers as they hope for success.

High A – I guess the wind was blowing out. Final score was 17 - 11 with the 66ers getting the 17. Four home runs (Baez, Denker, Jean, Van SLyke) and four with three hits (Jean, Gallagher, Van Slyke, Garabedian). Jean was the leader of the offensive explosion driving in five runs with three XBH's. Nathan Eovaldi went the required five to get the win but it wasn't pretty.

A –Loons lose 4 - 3 when Ames gives up three runs in the bottom of the 9th. That was the first time Ames has been touched up in his professional career. Brett Wallach started and had his best game in months. Wallach went six innings, gave up seven hits, no runs, no walks, struck out seven. Songco slugged  his 12th home run.

Rookie Ogden –Gould looks like he will be staying in the MWL all year. He was knocked out after only three innings yesterday taking the 8 - 4 loss. Nick Akins hit his first Pioneer League home run, probably just the first of many for the rest of the summer. Landry only had one hit but Lemmerman had three. Garcia continues to sit but no word yet on the injury.

Rookie Arizona – No Game.

If Furcal plays like this next year, and Gordon is dominating AA after next season, do you replace Furcal with Gordon or do you try some sort of double play/left side of the infield combo with them? I realize this depends on who we get to replace Blake after next season and if DeWitt is still with us/performing.

Everytime you think how badly you want Frank McCourt gone, ask yourself how you would feel to have Donald Sterling instead.

Dee Gordon is still a ways away from dominating AA.

On the year he has a wOBA of .304 in AA.

He said if Gordon was dominating AA after next season

so I’m guessing he’s expecting huge improvement in Gordon. I think Ned trades him, in fact I’m not sure who will be standing on Aug 1st but bodies are going to roll. I have a hard time picturing Ned letting a rookie play SS.

I think we will see Gordon in 2012

especially if the Dodgers dont decide to pick up Furcals option. DeJesus is also showin he is healthy and his bat is alive after his dreadful start so I fiugure we will see him worked in next year also.

Gordon starting SS in 2012 is what makes the most sense, but when do we ever do the thing that makes the most sense?

Furcal’s option vests with 600 PA next year. Which is a good thing if he keeps playing at an elite level.

only one more option and Link (5x) catches DeWitt (6x)!

Link must be thinking

“Thanks a lot, Juan Pierre.”

"Stop exploding you cowards!!!"

Actually, he might be :)

Maybe he doesn’t crack the White Sox pen this year, but Link has already earned a nice $48k in MLB salary this year in addition to his minor league scratch.
