Rubby de la Rosa...promoted to AA
Rubby (RDLR)- one of the hottest and fastest rising SP prospects just got promoted to AA. He was scheduled to pitch the second game of today's twinbill.
If he does well in AA look fo r him to shoot up in the top 10 prospect category..two plus pitches..good command..yep that is hard to believe..with our pitchers..esp the command part.
Also throws 100 mph as RP and mid 90s as SP...nice..
check out thread..and his stats..
De la Rosa Receives Gem of a Promotion Loons Add Lefty Christenson By Brad Golder / Great Lakes Loons 07/23/2010 2:32 PM ETThe Great Lakes Loons, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Dodgers, announce the promotion of flame-throwing right-handed pitcher Rubby de la Rosa from the Loons to Double-A Chattanooga. In his place, the Loons have added left-hander Ryan Christenson.
De la Rosa, who has repeatedly hit triple-digits on the radar gun in 2010, was set to start the second game of today's doubleheader. He was 4-1 with a 3.19 ERA and six saves in 14 appearances (five starts). The 21-year-old right-hander from the Dominican Republic limited Midwest League opponents to a .223 average, striking out 55 to just 17 walks.
He began the season as the primary reliever for starter Elisaul Pimentel, racking up six saves. All of his saves were in stints of two innings or more and five of his saves came in appearances of three innings or more. Since joining the rotation permanently after the all-star break, de la Rosa has allowed just five earned runs over 27 innings (3-0, 1.67 ERA, .165 average against).

Awesome news!
Thanks for posting that. I also like that Ryan Christienson is getting promoted to Lo-A…he’s dominated thus far in the Arizona Rookie League

Seems aggressive for Buddy, they must have liked what they saw or the Astro’s want to see what he can do in a hitters league.
I like your logic!
Sounds reasonable to me.

Ya
when I posted that, I did not know he had been bumped two leagues. I just assumed it was the Cal League.

Screw the Cal League:)
Started with Lambo, then Gordon, then Sands, now Rubby. They don’t want us to see the good stuff.
How did Gordon and Lambo skipping the Cal League work out?
Even then, I sort of get it for hitters, but for pitchers?

Dude throws 100mph
maybe they feel he isn’t proving anything by throwing fastballs by lower level hitting. I like the Astros conspiracy theory though.

gordon??
it hasnt been too bad,,,
hes hitting around .290 in AA and we knew he had no power so its ok that the powers down… and he rarely strikes out… and for such a raw player… hes exceeeded expectations
Maybe your expectations, which must have been kind of low
if a .339 OBA after a hot streak is what your expectations were. He’s had three professional seasons to become un raw, how long can you use that term with him. Wasn’t like he didn’t play baseball at all before we drafted him.

Someone posted this in the ticket thread, felt it beared repeating
Gone are those days apparently, with Chad Billingsley being the biggest head case in the NL, Clayton Kershaw only being 22-years-old and given the title of staff ace, and Hiroki Kuroda getting older and older with every second.
I couldn’t help but read that and go fill out the idiot form to sign up and return the comment.

I read the story
and to be honest other then that drivel in the quote, it did not seem like a bad article. I think he just felt he had to be snarky for a moment and let it ruin his column.
i mean seriously
if that guy didn’t have a beard he’d look 15.

Hrm, there was probably a, er, different way to respond to him there...
just mho but now he won’t take your criticism seriously. That one paragraph is pure drivel and deserves to be ripped, but could probably do it on point (esp re: Billingsley), no?
There's no need to fear, Underdog is here! / Broncos/Dodgers/Lakers fan in Niners/Raiders/Giants/Warriors country, and damned proud of it.
i don’t think anyone of interest is reading the downey times. i hope it give the young pup motivation to actually watch a game before writing it. he’s no better than anyone at espn.

That's great news about Rubby
But I wonder why he got promoted instead of Webster.
"Stop exploding you cowards!!!"
Easier to say to the fans
they received three AA players instead of two AA players and one Low A guy.
Sure but he's pitched in relief
most of the year and has only made a handful of starts. So overall I’d say no, but the fact he’s barely racked up any innings makes it an even stranger decision.
What if they decided he was a relief pitcher and that is why they fast tracked him?
That's a very interesting thought
Make him the set up man for Jansen…or….replacing Jansen as the AA closer…
"Stop exploding you cowards!!!"
what were his avg relieif outings
in terms of innings pitched? He pitched multiple innings almost every time in relief.
Yes, but its close
Webster: FIP 3.76
De La Rosa: FIP 3.49
And Kershaw who went from Great Lakes to AA posted a FIP of 2.85 as a 19 year old.

Not sure where you got your numbers from.
Mine are from first inning.

webster is a extreme flybal pitcher
rubby is dominating
extreme Gb with high K rates and good walk rates.. what else can you ask for a pitcher
The Astro's are so far away from competing again
once they lose Berkman and Oswalt they actually should be looking at our lower level guys.
who started the "dodger prospect for Granick"? trend
maybe now it will be true!

Some troll I think
But i’m not sure, lol.
Gordon, Withrow, Eovaldi, Russell, Pimental, May for Greinke
Let’s do it!
"Stop exploding you cowards!!!"
Throw in a couple more we could spring for DeJesus!
Just a reminder, fans, comin' up is our "Die-hard Night" here at the stadium. Free admission to anyone who was actually alive the last time the Dodgers won a pennant.
He's just as good as Manny right now
;)
Oh, that reminds me, we could add Dejesus (Ivan) instead of one of the pitchers or May.
"Stop exploding you cowards!!!"
take out gordon and withrow and sub in dejesus and miller and keep pimental, maybe throw in ely
ely, dejesus, miller, eovaldi, russell – greinke – i think that’s fair. remember cliff lee was had for less.
Because it was for 2 months of Cliff Lee and 2 draft picks, not 3 years of a Cy Young winner at a very team-friendly price. If you expect Greinke you better take Ely, DeJesus, Eovaldi and Russell off that list and add in names like Sands, Gordon and Withrow.
Just a reminder, fans, comin' up is our "Die-hard Night" here at the stadium. Free admission to anyone who was actually alive the last time the Dodgers won a pennant.
YES
Told you guys he’s our third best starting pitcher prospect. Now iignore me while I cry when I hear the inevitable news that he gets traded for Oswalt..

Rubby
Rubby is 21 yrs old and Webster is just 20 yrs so LAD might go slower with Webby.
Webster is 2 yr away..RDLRosa..hmmm 100 mph as RP maybe a yr away..??
I would test him in AA to see how he does…for late 2011 mLB as SP or 2012 start of season.
Miller and RDLRosa look like only SP prospects ready for MLB late next yr..
Withrow looks like at least 2012…if ever?He needs time to sort out command.
