by bucknellbruin on Jul 24, 2010 1:30 PM PDT up reply actions

You just play the inning out as if the error didn't happen

Furcal on 1B
no advance on X.Paul fly ball
advance on Kemp single
advance on DeWitt single

Per the scorer, he either felt Furcal would have advanced two bases on one of the singles, likely the DeWitt one, running from 2B with two outs

Loney's single you mean?

I hated living up there. I lived in Rohnert Park for two years. Beyond dealing with the clueless Giants fans, you have to deal with only watching 25 Dodger games a year. And even then, of those 25 Dodger games, 18 are Jon Miller and 7 are Joe Buck and Tim McCarver.

Yeah, well nowadays I can't complain as much since I have an MLBTV sub

and get access to almost every Dodger game online. Only these Fox blackouts basically… But yeah sometimes have to watch the Giants telecast instead. Dealing with clueless Giants fans is another thing that scientists have yet to solve, however.

Late inning come from behind victories
Confidence in the bullpen
Competent base running
Competent fielding
Competent LH reliever to help KUO
Broxton regaining command of pitches
’08 version of Manny (and healthy too)
No more stupid decisions by Torre (Tuesday night, ’nuff said)

Pick your poison now – Dream Weaver or Sherrill. I go Loney.

by oshea2002 on Jul 24, 2010 4:35 PM PDT reply actions

Weaver is what Weaver Is

The perfect guy to come into a game that is going to go 14 innings

by Cool Dudes on Jul 24, 2010 4:37 PM PDT up reply actions

I’d go Weaver as long as possible before Sherrill.

by oshea2002 on Jul 24, 2010 4:38 PM PDT up reply actions

Its a silly question anyway

Weaver is the deep guy in the pen, Sherill shouldn’t even be in MLB right now.

i saw him at a borders in boston once

it was awesome but i also wished it was dave roberts.

by mintxcore on Jul 24, 2010 4:44 PM PDT up reply actions

Why?

Either is better than Paul, and the pitcher bats two spots later now

by Eric Stephen on Jul 24, 2010 4:44 PM PDT up reply actions

late, but you asked

Cause Weaver can’t hit any worse than GA and you lose defense going from Paul to GA.

by Table on Jul 24, 2010 5:33 PM PDT up reply actions

You weren’t going from Paul to GA, it was Paul to Ethier

by Eric Stephen on Jul 24, 2010 8:40 PM PDT up reply actions

hm

Ethier hit for the pitcher, then he was to be placed in either right or Left with either GA or Paul coming out of the game for him. Either the 2nd or 7th spot would then become the pitcher’s spot in the order. Ethier was put in right for Paul placing the pitcher’s spot 2nd.

I am contending that it would have been superior to take GA out of the game with either Ethier or Paul in left (in this case I won’t care whom) and putting the pitcher’s spot 7th. I know that would mean the pitcher would hit sooner, but GA is the alternative and he hits as poorly as the average pitcher anyways so what I really care about is the quality of the outfield defense.

I guess you wouldn’t be going FROM Paul to GA but the two scenarios differ because in one you have Paul in the game and in the other GA, that is what I meant.

Basically if there is ever an opportunity to take GA out of the game, and he is not, it becomes a bad decision.
