The Dodgers are easy to pitch to without Manny and Andre
A pitcher doesn’t have to throw the ball over the middle of the plate right now..there is nothing to fear
They have been easy to pitch to with Andre since the break

That ab by Kemp pissed me off. Garlands loopy curve is pretty awful, and Kemp acts like hes never seen the damn pitch before. Its okay not to swing the damn bat
he could've been on base if he just left his bat on his shoulder the entire time
I'll be taking my talents to South Beach.

I still dont understand why these guys cant relax with RISP sometimes. Its been a problem for like 3 years.

Does the pitcher have to get the win?
The Dodgers won two straight Kevin Brown starts 1-0 on May 7 & May 12, 2001, but Brown only pitched 8 in the second one. Sheff won that game with a walk-off HR (I was there)

Last Dodger starting pitcher to WIN back-to-back 1-0 games

Last Dodger pitcher to pitch consecutive 1-0 shutouts
was Tim Belcher, who threw a 1-0 shutout in his last start of 1989, and his first game of 1990. He actually had three out of four games won by 1-0 shutout.
The last back-to-back Dodger with 1-0 shutouts in the same season was 1988 Orel, who turned the trick September 14 & 19 (his 3rd and 4th straight shutouts)

Who remembers the good Matt Kemp
It feels like it’s been 2 years since Matt Kemp has been decent for more than a 2 week stretch.
"Stop exploding you cowards!!!"
He has been good most of this month hasn't he?
by SLC DODGER FAN on Jul 27, 2010 8:47 PM PDT up reply actions
He's been pretty good since the AS break, but that's been about 2 weeks
I’m just waiting for his average to drop to .260 again, then in 3 week he will hit 1 or 2 homeruns, get up to .265, then repeat the process.

He was Superman the first two weeks of the season. Since then has just been a big regression that he seemed to snap out of these last few weeks. He just has had a horrid last 2 at bats.

RBIs are not a uselss stat. If Kemp was any good in those moments he would have a shit ton more this year.
2 outs, RISP this season
.297/.395/.757/1.152.
However with runners at 1st and 2nd this season.
.111/.143/.185/.328.
All of course are SSS.

Like more than 2 a game…
On the flip-side of Matt Kemp.
Remember how everyone was suggesting that Chad should be sent down to the minors or put in the bullpen after his third start of the season?
I don't think anyone with any actual knowledge said anything like that
Btw, I dont advocate sending Kemp to the minors or benching him, he just needs to get his shit together and be consistent. I guess same with Ethier too.

The only position you can upgrade is LF
then what do you do with the player you traded for when Manny is ready to play? You make a deal for a LF to play two – three weeks? And what LF who is available would impact the team in such a way over the next 2 – 3 weeks that would not expect to start for the rest of the year?
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
Why can’t they upgrade at catcher, 2nd or 3rd?
"A baseball game is nothing but a great slow contraption for getting you to pay attention to the cadence of a summer day."
Not one single player
is available at those position who would be an upgrade.
Patience is for those who die waiting for something to happen
What if Manny never really becomes able to play again for the Dodgers?
Then we’re really screwed.
"Stop exploding you cowards!!!"
They could also upgrade the bench by grabbing someone off the street.
"A baseball game is nothing but a great slow contraption for getting you to pay attention to the cadence of a summer day."
Isn't that nice
Bills has a nice inning, and the Dodgers get two outs on four pitches.
Oh hey, DeWitt the savior. Sorta.
Still think we need a pitcher
but the offense is anemic. I know Either and Manny are out but this line-up tonight has five guys OPSing undr .740, three of those under .650. Until this team gets totally heatlthy its gonna be alot of games like this. Or got get someone.
In a year that has been so improbable, the impossible has happened
GA got a hit!

There’s no reason to be playing at least 5 feet or so back of that spot. Idk, maybe it just looked shallow.

Enberg was raving about Kuo that inning.
Nice to hear.

This was his call of Ichiro’s great catch yesterday.
“That ball hit deep. STRETCH. You have got to be bleeping me.”
Welp, I still love your defense Beard!
(Ugh that at bat was… ugh.)

Is Mike Lowell gonna be released any time soon?

Yes. He wont hit like he has this year, but that defense is spectacular. He’ll be priced out of our range, though.

perhaps 48 more homers in blue, we can dream.
Kenley Jansen > Mariano Rivera
That's a strong bond, I almost feel like I've got to call you a fag for it
"Stop exploding you cowards!!!"

Adam Morrison has more rings than Lebron, Bosh, and Wade combined?
OH MY GOD ITS MATT STAIRS

Though Brox seems to be pitching around him for some reason.

I don't know
That stache is pretty intimidating.
This Stairs is like 97 years old man, he makes GA look like an acceptable bench bat. Throw a strike!

Well one down - 9 to go
Nice going – though I still would like to see more than 2 runs scored in a game
and the way we've been pitching
there is no reason to, though it would be nice.

Another game
Where one guy gets all the RBI’s… How many have we had in the past week?

Desperate times call for desperate measures
Once we’re in the lead for the wildcard it wont be as dramatic ;)
"Stop exploding you cowards!!!"
4 2-0 games this year
3 in the last week, 4 out of the last 5 wins have had one player drive in all the runs.
little bit worried
last time we had a good string of close games, we got smashed back down to earth shortly thereafter =(

Nothing but fastballs to Stairs.
98,97,98,96,95,98 and 98.
Nothing but fastballs in that inning as well.
at least he's back in the 96-99 zone
instead of the 93-96 :) that’s great news.
