MiLB Dodger Recap 7/29 - Gorman Erickson doubles down

Luckily I don't get to say good-bye to anyone tonight. Maybe they will only get traded on Brandon's watch.

AAA – No Game

AA – Lookouts lose 5 - 2, with the Sandman having his worst game in AA with three K's in four at bats. Sexton and St. Claire gave up the five runs with allowed 16 baserunners between them in six innings. Javy Guerra is back from his rehab with the Arizona Rookie league, and he pitched one perfect inning.

High A – No Game

A – Gorman Erickson has had a quiet summer but he seemed to wake up tonight. He blasted three doubles driving in five runs as the Loons routed Lansing 13 - 1. Blake Smith also woke from his mid - summer slumber to knock out four singles. Jamie Ortiz is quietly smoking the ball with a .942 OPS in July. Ortiz just turned 22 in July so even though he's been around a while, he's still young. 21 Year old Edwin Contreras won the game in an unimpressive fashion.

Rookie Ogden – Idaho Falls crushed Frias and Whetsel to the tune of 11 runs in three innings. Whetsel gave up seven runs without recording an out. It is possible the 25 year old Whetsel in his first professional season may need to find another career. I'm sure it has been some kind of journey for a 25 year old to even find himself pitching in rookie ball and you hate to see dreams crushed, but Idaho Falls did some dream crushing tonight. Landry had two more hits as he makes a push to get his OPS above 1.000.
