Last year at this time Ethan Martin and Nathan Eovaldi were doing tag team duty for the Great Lake Loons. A year later they are throwing back to back shutouts in the offensive California League.
Isotopes AAA – Adkins gave up the winning run in the bottom of the 9th but the real story was how poorly Josh Lindblom pitching in relief. After five straight scoreless games, Lindblom has been pounded in his last two relief appearances. Yesterday he gave up three hits, three eaned runs, while only getting two outs. No K's.Over his last two games he's now given up seven hits in 2 2/3 innings. Jon Link struck out the only batter he faced. Bastardo got the start, went 4 2/3 giving up six hits, four walks. Lucas May hit a double and triple to pace the offense. Russ Mitchell also chipped in with a home run.
Chattanooga AA – The Lookouts fall 7 - 2 as middle relief was the undoing. Sexton started and was okay, but Eric Krebbs was Towers like giving up four earned runs in about an inning of work. Justin Miller came in to restore order but it was to late. Dee Gordon had three singles and his 31st stolen base but no one could bring him in. Sands had a single, walk, and stolen base. Lambo was O-fer 3 and has had only one XBH since his return. In his last ten games Lambo has a TSL of .190/.209/.214. That is not a misprint.
Inland Empire A –Ethan Martin pitched his best game since May 27th, going eight innings, three hits, one walk, and four K's. Alfredo Silverio continued his hot hitting, slugging his fourth home run. Wait a minute, do my eyes deceive me, or is that Austin Gallagher with a home run? Yes, it is, single machine Austin Gallagher slugs his second home run of the year, a three run shot at that. Woo Hoo
Great Lake Loons A –Game One Matt Magill won his fourth game going five innings. Not one of his better games this year but he got the job done. Blake Smith continues to rake with three hits, including his 9th home run. Smith now has 29 XBH in only 57 games and his TSL over his last 10 games is .359/.395/.718.
Great Lake Loons A –Game Two - Smith hit another home run in the 2nd game giving him 10 on the year. Galvez also homered in both games. The real story though was Ruddy De La Rosa going six innings, seven hits, three walks, and eight K's.
Rookie Ogden –Offensive explosion for the Raptors as they scored eight runs in the 1st inning on their way to a 14 - 1 victory. Landry led off the game and ended up hitting a three run home run in the 1st inning. Neat trick. Pericht also homered in the first inning, his sixth of the young year. Landry ended up with three hits, Garcia had two doubles, and Guerrero had four singles.
Rookie Arizona – Baldwin had two hits, Brandon Martinez pitched in relief, going two innings and giving up four hits. This was the first multi-hit game for Baldwin and he badly needed it as he was 1 for 21 headed into the game.
